UVA Fan Guide To The Orange Bowl: Tickets, Travel And Events

Whether you're traveling to Miami to cheer on UVA in the Orange Bowl or attending a watch party back home, here's what you need to know.

MIAMI, FL — After a stellar season when it won the ACC Coastal Division title, the University of Virginia football team will be traveling to Miami to play the University of Florida on Dec. 30 in the 86th Capital One Orange Bowl. The game, to be played at Hard Rock Stadium with a capacity of 65,000, will be Virginia's 21st bowl appearance but its first appearance in the Orange Bowl.

The Cavaliers finished the regular season with a 9-4 record. Florida is 10-2 and finished second in the SEC's East Division. Virginia and Florida have met only one previous time, 60 years ago when the Cavaliers visited Florida on Oct. 3, 1959 and lost 55-10.

Orange Bowl tickets in Virginia's designated seating sections are on sale now at UVATix.com and open to all Cavalier fans, including Virginia Athletics Foundation donors, football season ticket holders, UVA students and the public. All fans are encouraged to purchase tickets now as seat locations are assigned at the time of purchase. Tickets are $240 each for club and lower level seats and $110 each for upper level seats (plus an $8 fee per ticket). UVA student tickets are $50 each (plus an $8 fee per ticket ).

Both air and land-only travel packages to the Capital One Orange Bowl are available through Collegiate Athletic Travel. Charter air packages from the Charlottesville and Richmond airports are offered. There are two hotel options from which to choose for both the air and land packages. Game tickets are not included in the packages, but every fan who is part of a travel package will be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase a game ticket.

General parking at Hard Rock Stadium costs $50 in advance and can be purchased here.

The Orange Bowl will be broadcast on ESPN at 8 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Game Watching Parties

Events in Miami

  • Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 30 in the North West Gate Parking Lot of Hard Rock Stadium. Fan fest admission is free for all fans with a ticket to the Capital One Orange Bowl. In addition to live performances, there will be food, beverages, a zip line, free fall, bungee trampoline, rock climbing wall, face painters, caricaturists, interactive games and more.
  • The Orange Bowl Burger Battle Presented by Vet Tix will take place at 4 p.m. on Dec. 30 inside the Capital One Orange Bowl Fan Fest in the North West Parking Lot of Hard Rock Stadium. The culinary matchup features restaurants from each of the participating team's towns, Charlottesville and Gainesville, going head-to-head to find out which team's hometown serves up the best burgers. This year's Orange Bowl Hall of Fame presented by AutoNation inductees will be the official judges of the burger battle.
  • The Cavalier Countdown Tailgate will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 30 in the University of Virginia tent at the NE Gate Plaza between the NE gate and the N gate. Enjoy food and drinks, a cash bar, music, and fan giveaways. Tickets for adults will be $50 in advance and $60 at the door. Children and young adults (ages six to 20) will be charged $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The event will be free for children five and under.
  • The Run With Jim, a 3.6-mile run, will take place at 8 a.m. on Dec. 30. The run is an out-and-back run along the 1.8-mile Boardwalk, with views of Hollywood Beach. The starting location at S. Broadwalk and Jefferson Streets is about one mile from The Diplomat Beach Resort. All alumni, parents, and friends in the area or visiting for the Orange Bowl are invited to run with UVA's President Jim Ryan. Following the run, grab some coffee and a special edition Orange Bowl "Run with Jim" t-shirt before heading to the pre-Bowl Cavalier Countdown tailgate.
  • The Wahoo Welcome will take place from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 29 at The Diplomat Beach Resort, 3555 S. Ocean Drive in Hollywood, Florida. All alumni, parents, friends, and fans are invited to attend the event, which will offer a complimentary glass of wine, beer, or a specialty cocktail, a cash bar and fan gear. There will be complimentary event parking for those not staying at The Diplomat Beach Resort. Tickets for adults will be $25 in advance and $35 at the door. Children and young adults (ages six to 20) will be charged $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The event will be free for children five and under.
  • The annual AvMed Orange Bowl Coaches Luncheon presented by AutoNation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 27 at Jungle Island at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail in Miami. The luncheon features the head coaches from UVA and Florida in addition to key players as they talk about the game alongside ESPN personality. Contact the Orange Bowl Ticket Office at 305-341-4701.
