We want to play our part in protecting the planet, while making it easier for you to play yours. It’s why we offer specialist mattress removal and recycling via our trusted third partners, because we want to reduce the amount of mattresses going to landfill. We don’t mind what brand or size it is; there’s no Simba purchase necessary. So when your mattress reaches the end of its life, add this service to checkout and we’ll collect it for you.

This is a stand-alone service and will remove any other products from your cart. If you are also planning to order a Simba mattress the Recycling service can be added as a Delivery option at checkout instead.

Once your order is placed, we’ll allocate you a collection date within 5 days. If the allocated date isn’t convenient, you can contact us or reschedule via the AO tracking email you’ll receive.

If you’re not sure what to do with an old mattress, these Worrying Facts might help you decide: Worrying Fact #1 is that, according to the National Bed Federation, only 24% of discarded mattresses were recycled in the UK last year. And Worrying Fact #2 is that the rate of ‘real’ recycling of those mattresses is estimated to be only 14%. And by the way, ‘Real’ recycling means salvaging over 80% of the materials, not just a couple of springs.

So, as much as 76% of the mattresses we discard every year probably end up in landfill. According to our recycling partner those mattresses equate to 167,000 tonnes of waste, the rough equivalent of 14,000 double decker buses.

So what are your options? You could donate your old mattress to charity, if you can find one that will accept it. You could take it to the tip on the roof of your car, or pay the council to remove it. But unfortunately neither option guarantees ‘real’ recycling, especially since the mattresses must be undamaged for that to happen.

But the Mattress removal service we offer is intended as a more responsible option. We’ll come and collect your mattress from you (any brand, any size), then we’ll hand it over to our trusted third partners to do the rest. No hassle, no corners cut, no rip-offs. Just a very professional recycling service.

How it works
How it works

We’ve worked for many years with our UK based partners; they currently process over 8% of all UK mattresses sent for recycling, so they really know what they’re doing.

With a large team of skilled operatives, they carefully strip down mattresses into their component parts at a rate of about 12,000 mattresses per week. All components are sorted and sanitised before a QC check and redistribution to their next life.

It’s easy. We’ll arrange a mattress collection on a date of your choosing. We’ll even remove it from the room of your choice; provided you keep it clean and dry, we’ll do the rest.

If you’re planning to buy a new mattress from Simba it’s best to add this service to your order at checkout; that way we can collect your old mattress on the same day as your new mattress is delivered, if you prefer.

But if you’re only interested in mattress disposal, simply click the ‘Buy it now’ button and checkout as usual. We’ll automatically allocate you a collection date within 5 days of your order date, and you’ll receive a protective transit bag for your mattress in advance. If for any reason the allocated date is inconvenient, it’s easy to rearrange either by contacting [email protected] or through the AO tracking email you’ll receive.

On Collection Day  

To make sure your mattress is recycled efficiently, we ask you to bear a couple of things in mind:

    on your phone

    To make sure you’re in, we’ll let you know your time slot on the day (and we’ll update you if this changes).

  • Keep your mattress
    indoors & bag it

    We can’t recycle your mattress if it’s wet or damaged, so please don’t leave it outside and use the protective bag we send you.

  • Keep access
    routes clear

    We can collect your mattress from any room, upstairs or down, but please keep access routes clear (although do use dust sheets if you like)
