Katie Holmes is staying busy with work as her daughter Suri Cruise, 18, prepares to head off to college at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this fall.
As her teenager embarks on her next chapter in life and living away from home for the first time in just a few months, the actress, 45, will be joining the cast of Poker Face.
The Toledo native, best known for portraying Joey Potter on Dawson's Creek, will be among the guest cast for the murder mystery series' second season, alongside Natasha Lyonne.
Other guest stars include Giancarlo Esposito, Gaby Hoffmann and Kumail Nanjiani.
Previously, Poker Face welcomed actors like Chloë Sevigny and Judith Light as guest stars.

Light, 75, won an Emmy Award for her guest-starring role in the Peacock show.
Holmes announced her casting on Instagram on Wednesday morning.
'Thank you [Natasha Lyonne] for having me!' she captioned a screenshot of a Variety article confirming the exciting news.
Additionally, she described the gig as a 'thrill.'
Earlier this month, Holmes' daughter, Suri - who is now using her mother's middle name as a last name - graduated from LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
Suri - who was born on April 18, 2006 in Los Angeles - is the child of divorced parents. Her father is Tom Cruise, who was married to Holmes from from 2006 to 2012.
In 2014, Holmes revealed her 'main goal' as a mother is 'to just let' Suri 'know how much' she loves her.
'Just to let her know that she is so loved. When that's the through line, who cares that my first two pancakes are always burned?' she told People. 'Between tickle fights and glitter art, I try to throw in some manners along the way. I try to have good manners too, so that's what she sees.'

The performer continued: 'I also try to be very creative with her, because I know she's an artist, and that speaks to the girl in me.'
During an August 2014 appearance on the Today show, Holmes shared: 'The most important thing for me is letting her know how proud I am and that her accomplishments mean everything. Whatever I do is whatever. It's really just about her and that's what I think is most important.'
Despite having little, if any, relationship with her dad, Suri is, according to sources, a happy and well-adjusted teen who has loved growing up in New York City.
Over the past few years, Holmes has focused on moviemaking and getting more stage experience.

She wrote the script for, starred in and directed the 2022 romantic drama Alone Together, about a couple in a bad relationship who end up at the same upstate New York vacation rental.
That project was followed by 2023's Rare Objects.
Holmes co-wrote the script, directed and starred in the story of a young woman recovering from trauma who regains her confidence after finding a job in an antique shop.
'I’d like to continue to write and direct my own films,' she told the Sunday Times,' adding, 'Maybe write a few books - fiction.'

In July 2022, Holmes revealed Suri, then 16, actually recorded a cover of the song Blue Moon for her film Alone Together.
'She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing,' Katie, 43, told Yahoo! Entertainment.
Suri's voice can be heard in the film's opening credits.
As for why she asked her daughter to sing for her film, she said: 'I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her.'
The mother-of-one also noted that Suri also sang on Rare Objects.
But other than that, Holmes clarified that Suri was just a '16-year-old kid doing high school.'
