Netflix fans hail cult TV drama as 'one of the best', saying they don't know why it took them so long to start watching

Netflix fans have praised a long-running cult TV drama as 'one of the best' shows they have ever watched. 

Taking to the popular Facebook group Netflix Bangers, which has over 3.2million members, viewers' feedback on the show was overwhelmingly positive. 

The popular series ran for eight seasons between 2006 and 2013 - with a number of enthusiastic reviews from Facebook users. 

They wrote: 'I almost lost my job because of this show as I would stay late at night and wake up late for work the following day. 

'If you start to watch this, make sure you are on a vacation and be ready to go on a full marathon until you finish it. It's just so addictive and you wouldn't want to stop watching.'

Dexter follows the exploits of Dexter Morgan, works for the police department as a blood-splatter analyst but moonlights as a murderer who only targets other killers.

The title character is played by Michael C. Hall, while the supporting cast includes Jennifer Carpenter as Debra, Dexter's adoptive sister and co-worker and James Remar as Dexter's adoptive father, Harry Morgan.

In addition to its eight seasons, two spin-off shows related to Dexter have been made, with Dexter: New Blood premiering in November 2021 and Dexter: Resurrection set to air in summer 2025. 

The latter is also set to see the return of Michael C. Hall, who will also join the cast of the prequel show Dexter: Original Sin as the inner voice of young Dexter, played by Patrick Gibson. 

Production on the Original Sin prequel is still underway, with the show expected to premiere in December 2024. 

Hall starred in Showtime's Dexter for its eight-season run from 2006 to 2013, playing the titular forensic investigator who moonlights as a vigilante serial killer, targeting the murderers who slipped through the justice system.
