Country singer Parker McCollum and his wife Hallie Ray Light have welcomed their first child together - a baby boy, giving him a very unique name.

Parker, 32, and Hallie, 26, announced his arrival in a Friday Instagram post, revealing that they named him Major Yancey Tyler McCollum.

Major was born on August 8th.

Hallie shared a mirror selfie on Monday to her Instagram stories while holding baby Major.

She added: 'mom life = best life!' 

Parker, a Texas native, said that he was watching an old college football championship game and saw Texas Longhorns quarterback Major Applewhite.

'It's dope,' the 32-year-old said during his interview.

'I was watching Rose Bowl highlights and I saw Major Applewhite, and I was like, "Damn. Major McCollum would be sick.'

The name Yancey was a name Hallie thought of: 'That's what she wants. She likes Major Yancey,' he explained. 

Parker's middle name is also Yancey. 

On Friday, Hallie and Parker shared a joint Instagram post announcing the arrival - as they posed inside the hospital with their bundle of joy.

Parker and Hallie met in 2020 after Parker's friend told him about her, with the singer revealing he liked her name Hallie Ray Light - and was trying to somehow put her name in a song before they met, via an interview with Country Now in 2022.

Adding: 'The she ended up coming out to a show and didn't stick around too long. I don't think she liked me a whole lot, but I was still pretty hell-bent on writing that song and putting her name on it.'

Parker talked about the first time he met her, which took place on a tour bus.

He told 98-3 Wild Country that he thought that Hallie left after ten minutes and that she didn't like his behavior because it 'wasn't up to her standards.

For nine months he asked her to come to another one of his shows and then she finally did when he wrote a song inspired by her name.

They opened communication and then Hallie came eventually to her second show. 

The song, which he released the song in 2020 called Hallie Ray Light.

'I think we started dating that night,' he recalled to the outlet.

They broke up briefly in at the end of 2020 due to being long distance, with him pursuing his music career and her being in nursing school.

He couldn't recall why they broke up during an interview with Country Now, but said it was for 'some goofy reason.'

She did not attend his Grand Ole Opry debut - which made him realize that he didn't want them to remain broken up.

'I don't even remember what the reason [for the breakup] was. We were still broken up and we were trying to work things out. But I walked off stage that night and I was like, "I don't ever want to do anything like this again without her here,' he told People magazine in 2021. 

The lovebirds got engaged on July 1, 2021 - with Parker recalling that he had no hesitation in asking her to be his wife.

'I couldn't wait to ask her to marry me. There was no backup plan and no hesitation. I didn't overthink one thing. I was like," It can't get any better than her." There was no doubt in my mind that I was making the right decision,' he said to Parker.

'She saved my life in a way. I don't think I was headed down the right road,' he said. 

They tied the knot on March 28, 2022 at Boxwood Manor in Texas, with their first dance the song One More Day by Diamond Rio.

Pretty Heart was certified double Platinum and To Be Loved By You was certified gold by RIAA.

His fourth album, Never Enough, dropped last year.
