Andy Cohen poses with his new Madame Tussauds waxwork and the resemblance is astonishing

Andy Cohen posed with his new Madame Tussauds waxwork in New York this week - and it was nearly impossible to tell which was which.

Although the museum is known for its uncanny likenesses of various stars, its new sculpture of Andy, 56, was an especially astonishing creation.

Adding to the eerie effect, the sculpture is displayed in a replica of the set of Andy's popular talk show Watch What Happens: Live!.

When the figure was unveiled on Thursday, the Real Housewives producer sat down in one of the chairs, while the waxwork was in another.

But will fans be able to tell which Andy is the real one?

In the striking images, the real Andy Cohen is the bearded man wearing the black suit and black tie, while the sculpture is clean-shaven with a silver tie.

Making the distinction clear, Andy rose from his chair and squatted beside his waxwork, posing as if he were whispering a bit of gossip into its ear.

During the unveiling ceremony, Andy confessed he was 'really freaked out' when he saw his Madame Tussauds sculpture for the first time.

'I mean, that was wild. That was a trip. I've seen a lot of c**p in my life. This is something really special. This is very cool, and I'm really honored,' he told Extra.

He gushed about the level of detail the museum committed itself to in making the wax figure, which is 'wearing my old suit and my shoes,' he revealed.

Slightly sheepishly, he admitted that the studio artists had even managed to capture his crossed eyes, although he thought they might miss that particular tic.

He shared that 'it feels great' and 'very surreal' to be acknowledged for the massive impact he has had on popular culture over the years.

Andy first announced that he was getting a Madame Tussauds waxwork this January on an episode of Watch What Happens: Live.

'This is an incredible honor; I can't even believe it!' exclaimed the Real Housewives producer in excitement. 'I cannot wait to meet my wax twin.'

In order to ensure maximum realism, Andy had hundreds of measurements and pictures taken while working with Madame Tussauds.

At the time that the wax figure was announced, the whole process was projected to take approximately nine months, according to Broadway World

The Madame Tussauds studio artists took such care to fashion the best possible waxwork that they inserted each hair one by one.

'It was such a pleasure working with Andy to create his first-ever wax figure,' Madame Tussauds marketing chief Matthew Clarkson gushed.

'Many of us know and love Andy, especially when it comes to unraveling the reality drama and spilling the tea. We're over the moon to have him be a part of Madame Tussauds New York!' Matthew continued.
