'I thought I might fall off': Sophie Ellis-Bextor admits she feared she would slip off stage while dressed in her Alien costume on The Masked Singer

Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed she was scared she would fall off the stage while performing in her Alien costume on The Masked Singer.

The hitmaker, 41, became the first celebrity to be sent home on the second series of the ITV show after she was unmasked on Saturday's episode.

Speaking to The Mirror, the singer admitted that being in the costume hindered her vision, leaving her worried she could take a tumble while performing.

She said: 'I was on a platform and couldn't see too well. I thought I might fall off.

'I felt like a gymnast who had a cool routine with jumps and twists, who then left after their first comedy somersault. But it's cool.'

Sophie, who sang Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now, was guessed to be the Alien by many fans of the show due to her 'distinctive' voice.

The Murder On The Dancefloor star also didn't have much luck concealing her identity from her five children either.

No surprise there! Sophie Ellis-Bextor has revealed that she knew she had been 'rumbled' on the series after three of the judges quickly predicted that she was Alien

She said: 'Even my one-year-old pointed at the telly and shouted 'Mummy!' when I started singing in the alien suit.'

On keeping her identity secret during the show, she added: 'It turns out most of my friends and family don't ask me much about my job after all. It was only down to my own willpower after that.

'The hoodie you wear [backstage] says 'don't speak to me' and quite frankly it's the best hoodie I've ever owned.'

Following her elimination, Sophie shared a selfie on Instagram as she posed next to her Alien mask.
