When Doug, Georgina’s coworker, starts acting weird, even though his band is suddenly taking off and making the front page of the papers, she needs to figure out what is happening to him before he loses his job and she loses a friend. Meanwhile, Georgina’s old friend, the incubus Bastien, arrives in town for a very important mission to corrupt the leader of a conservative group in the city. As if that was not enough, Georgina also needs to find a way to navigate her new relationship with Seth, which gets harder as their desire for each other grows, but they can’t have sex, or even too much physical contact without risking Georgina feeding on him.
I almost DNF this book, because there was a lull in the middle, but thankfully, the pace and plot picked up again near the 70% mark. Still, I do not think I will continue with this series, as I don’t care that much about the characters, and the plots from both books are okay, nothing more than that. I was not surprised by anything in this book. No twist or revelation was unexpected, it was all very predictable.
The “twist” about Dana? Saw it coming from miles away.
The “situation” between Georgina and Bastien? Saw that one coming too.
The fact that drugs were involved? Not a surprise.
The fact that the new character had something to do with the weird shit going on? I mean, it was kind of obvious...
The sub-plotline about Bastien and Dana took up way too much room in the book. Especially since it was not that relevant to the main plot. All it did was give an excuse for Bastien to stick around and create trouble between Georgina and Seth. I don’t like Bastien and didn’t care at all whether he’d manage to sleep with Dana or not. Bastien was unlikable, and he was a shitty friend in my opinion.
Georgina was less likable in this sequel, I feel that the chemistry she had with Seth in the first book was absent from this sequel, and I absolutely hate some of the choices she made.
The first novel of this series was good, but not exceptional, still, I was curious enough about Georgina and Seth to read the sequel. Seeing how things went in this book, how they lacked the chemistry they had, how Georgina fucked things up with her stupid mistake (even though Seth is exceptionally forgiving), and how in general I didn't care about the plot or the characters that much, I will not read the next book. I will just leave it at that and hope to enjoy my next read more.

I really enjoyed SUCCUBUS BLUES and was excited to pick up the next book in the series, SUCCUBUS ON TOP. The first book had a really likable heroine who handled the succubus thing in a pretty believably conflicted way, given that she started out human. There was also a fun murder mystery element that kept the plot moving and added tension, and I really liked the mythology/theology elements.
SUCCUBUS ON TOP was... a disappointment, actually. I feel like Georgina was a lot less likable in this book, mostly because she didn't really grow as a character. I understand that real people don't evolve in a linear fashion and sometimes they make mistakes, but this book was like all mistake. I also really didn't like her relationship with Seth and didn't feel like they had chemistry. There were some great sex scenes in the first book but this one was distinctly unsexy.
There are two major plot threads in this book: Georgina's incubus friend, Bastien, comes to town and wants Georgina to help him publicly humiliate a conservative commentator type character who kind of feels like an analogue for Ann Coulter or similar. The next thread involves drug dealing and a shady character who might just be supernatural in nature. Both of these plot threads had potential but left me wanting and the way they were resolved just weren't satisfying.
Also: I'm never really fond of forced outings (with regard to sexuality) in books. Here, it was kind of supposed to show the hypocrisy of a character, I guess (an anti-gay character was revealed to be gay), and while I do think the pointing out of that hypocrisy is valid, I didn't really like the way this book handled it. Granted, this was published a while ago and I doubt the author would have handled the subject the same way NOW, but anyone who gets really upset by stuff like that probably shouldn't read this book because it's used as punishment here and kind of treated like a funny/satisfying outcome.
I hope the third book in the series is better! I love Richelle Mead and think she has an addictive writing style but this book in particular felt like a dud.

I loooove this series.
This is one of my favorite UF series, ever. Admittedly, the first book is the weakest of them all, while book 4 is my favorite. The plot, characters and romance get better and better with each installment.
The love story has an incredible arc and it is absolutely beautiful. You'll need to go all the way to book 6 to find out how it ends, and it is utterly worth it.
Georgina Kincaid is a great strong female character with all her faults. Her insecurities and weaknesses make her a better character, she is not perfect, but she is good. She is flawed and that makes her more real.
Seth, although completely outside of the guys I would normally found attractive, is also great; sweet and kind, he is a character that grows in each book, he is loyal, authentic and loves with his all being. He is mundane and so real that he is the perfect juxtaposition to Georgina.
These books are full of adventure and fun characters, but to me, what really makes them so special is that the love story here is not just your typical romance. What we have here is a TRUE LOVE kind of EPIC love story to the likes of The Princess Bride.
This is the kind story that stays with you, no matter how many books you read or how many years have passed since you first read it , you don’t forget this one.
I completely recommend this series. READ IT!
P.S.: By now, I have lost count of how many times I have read/listen to the audiobooks of this series. The first time, I did actually read them, but soon I knew I would want to come to them again and I got the audiobooks. They are great.

HOW TO ENJOY THIS BOOK
✔ Do not judge it by its cover. Sure it has Richelle Mead's name emblazoned on it but really, a girl wearing a shiny (silver, yeesh) dress holding a goblet with that cheesy title doesn't inspire one to give this thoroughly entertaining series a chance. Taken atfacecover value, this (as with the other GK books) does tend to blend in with the multitude of stereotypical PNRs out there but the characters here are anything but. This installment in particular portrayed the relationship between Seth and Georgina with impressive depth and maturity... well, as much as a human writer and succubus I imagine could have a mature, functioning relationship.
Imagine Seth, the mild-mannered, socially awkward hero and Georgina, the lusty, hot demon who has sex for a living. As in, she needs sex to live. As in she can't have sex with Seth without killing him.
✔ Do not over-think the bigger plot. This installment deals with Doug's mysterious transformation to Super Doug and a zealous, morally incorruptible woman being made to fall in lust by an incubus named Bastien. You can practically see where things are heading five chapters in on both story lines but unless you're looking for a gasp worthy plot-twist, it wouldn't really deter you from enjoying this one.
✔ Have a PNR binge: vampires, werewolves, angels... know what just pick any romance series, throw in cowboys, bikers, billionaires in the mix just to make it more fun. Read them in succession then read this. Because chances are the alpha hero that densely populates every other romance genre will start to become stale and a character like Seth Mortensen will just knock you off your feet. True, he might take a bit of getting used to, and one might even accuse him of being a doormat but dude...
He has a teddy bear named Damocles and makes a mean pancake. And he never gets jealous. How can you not give that man some love?
✔ Re-watch some of Joss Whedon's early BtVS episodes for a better appreciation of this brand of humor. What's that? You don't know what BtVS is? Then I'd light a candle for your soul, you poor, deprived child.
✔ Go to iTunes. Purchase Fiona Apple's Tidal album. You're welcome.
True the demons' effort to tempt man into sinning here was fuzzy (because it sounded an awful lot like Georgie and Bastien were doing the Lord's work bringing down Dana), the story lines were scattered and needs better coherence (just like this review) and I may have figured out how this series will end but if possible, those faults only led me to better appreciate the small details.

I'm not a fan of the trope where I sense this series is going to go, but for the here and now, I'm just excited for when Georgina and Seth finally get to do it. Because for someone who refuses to get jealous, someone so secure of himself, I have a feeling Seth's gonna bring the thunder.

Although I am a little bit disappointed in Georgina (I'll elaborate later), this book still deserves 4 stars.
In the second book of the series Georgina continues her adventures. Her close friend and fellow incubus Bastien is visiting and needs her help in seducing a conservative figure; Doug is involved with some strange people and acts unlike himself; finally, Georgina now has a mortal boyfriend with whom she can't be intimate.
Once again, Richelle Mead delivers engaging and entertaining story, sexy, romantic and funny. However, I have to admit, this book was a little thin on mystery. There was no convincing build-up to discovery we saw in the first Georgina book. Nevertheless I am ready to forgive this.
What I can't forgive is Georgina's I hope she will redeem herself in future books. Otherwise I don't think I will be able to like her as much as I liked her in the first book and continue on with the series.

Succubus on Top is a weak sequel to Succubus Blues, which launched this series. It can be read as a standalone.
The author continues her exploration of right and wrong in this paranormal Seattle setting with many of the characters introduced in the first book.
Instead of one major story arc, there are three mini plotlines. Succubus Georgina Kincaid has a day job as an assistant manager at an independent bookstore. She met Seth Mortensen, her favorite author, during his book promo tour, and they began sex-less dating at the end of Succubus Blues. Despite growing feelings, they are trying not to trigger Georgina's occupational hazard that could literally drain Seth dry.
Overall, Succubus on Top feels bland until around the 70% mark and then Georgina steps up to the plate and engages in heroic antics. That's a long time to wait even though I understand why it's been written this way. But I do like the main protagonist, someone who should be classified as "bad" because of her employer but whose actions support a less simplistic assessment. I also like deviation from genre cliches. Georgina's romantic interest isn't some overbearing alpha male figure but a full-blooded introvert, a rarity. The vampires confuse me as I don't understand their "rules" (they eat food) or know their roles within hell's bureaucracy.

And keep falling and falling."Georgina gets some relief with the arrival of Bastien, incubus and centuries-old friend. Bastien is in Seattle for an ambitious target, a conservative radio host espousing conservative family values. He wants Georgina's help in his scheme and asks her to pose as his sister. Meanwhile, Doug, her mortal friend and fellow assistant store manager, begins to behave oddly, almost as though he was on amphetamines or worse.

Wow. I really liked the first book in this series, Succubus Blues, but I didn't expect this one to exceed the first. Succubus On Top is great. It's funny, it's sexy, it's a good mystery, the characters are very likable... I can't praise this book enough.
We first met Georgina Kincaid, a succubus living in Seattle, in Succubus Blues. Aside from being a temptress employed by Hell, Georgie is an assistant manager at a local bookstore. In this book, she meets up with a very old friend, an incubus she tutored in the ways of seduction a few centuries ago, and she has to figure out what kind of strange drug that's messing up her mortal friends' lives.
I think it's the cast of characters that keeps me hooked on Richelle Mead's books. Georgina is beautifully created; she's interesting, funny, and realistically flawed. Her fellow employees of the dark are fantastic supporting characters, from Cody and Peter, the cheerful vampires, to her archdemon boss, Jerome, who looks strangely like John Cusack. I'm really fascinated by Carter, the angel who is, strangely enough, Jerome's best friend. Aside from the fact that he's an angel who could double as a grunge kid, there's just so much under the surface.
And then there's Seth, Georgina's mortal, novelist boyfriend. I'm really not fond of novel boyfriends who are just so perfect, but Seth... I want Seth for myself. He's incredibly smart, creative, witty... I really love the tension that Mead sets up between Georgie and Seth. As a succubus, Georgina can't have sex with or even kiss Seth deeply without sucking away his life energy. I get the feeling this series of books is going to deal a LOT with how they can maintain their relationship while resisting the urge to jump each other's bones.
The mystery itself is pretty good, better than the first. The ending feels a bit rushed, but that's forgivable. Now... to figure out how I'm going to make it to October 2008, when the next book comes out.

Her fellow employees of the dark are fantastic supporting characters, from Cody and Peter, the cheerful vampires, to her archdemon boss, Jerome, who looks strangely like John Cusack. I'm really fascinated by Carter, the angel who is, strangely enough, Jerome's best friend. Aside from the fact that he's an angel who could double as a grunge kid, there's just so much under the surface.
And then there's Seth, Georgina's mortal, novelist boyfriend. I'm really not fond of novel boyfriends who are just so perfect, but Seth... I want Seth for myself. He's incredibly smart, creative, witty... I really love the tension that Mead sets up between Georgie and Seth. As a succubus, Georgina can't have sex with or even kiss Seth deeply without sucking away his life energy. I get the feeling this series of books is going to deal a LOT with how they can maintain their relationship while resisting the urge to jump each other's bones.
The mystery itself is pretty good, better than the first. The ending feels a bit rushed, but that's forgivable. Now... to figure out how I'm going to make it to October 2008, when the next book comes out.

Richelle, tell us how you really feel! She holds nothing back about how and what she feels towards conservatives. It became a little too much for me. But with that aside I'm still not sure why I continue to read this series. It's not really anthing that I'm in to. Seth's and Georgina's relationship is the MOST unrealistic relationship that I have yet encountered in a book. Seth's reactions seem so far from reality it's irritating. Ok so Seth accepts that she's a succubi and she needs to have sex with others to stay alive. I'm stretching here but MAYBE I can see a guy being ok with this (not really though). Not only is she banging all these other guys but she and Seth are not able to be together. I decided that I could overlook it for the most part. BUT then she cheated on him and his reaction was "I'm just glad you got to be with someone that you care about." Really? Seriously? Am I supposed to believe that this would be the rational and realistic reaction of a guy? I almost threw my book down when I read it because it was just so absurd. I can't imagine that happening...EVER! Forgiveness yes but not this.

Succubus Blues (the first book in this miraculous series) was one of my top books for 2019. Ever since I was in high school, Richelle Mead was one of my faves. Vampire Academy, Gameboard of the Gods and the Storm Born series ranked high on my list! It seemed only natural to finally pick this seires up.
Georgina Kincaid is a succubus with a mortal, author boyfriend named Seth (she is his ultimate fangirl, by the way). After the contents of the last novel, she learns that they cannot touch or get it on without killing him (that's a good way to kill the vibe in a relationship). Meanwhile, one of her co-workers has been acting pretty strange, and to top it all off her old incubus buddy Bastien is back in town. Can't a girl catch a break?
I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one, if I'm being brutally honest. The first book felt like a fairy tail and put really high expectations in my head! Unfortunately, Succubus on Top just didn't meet those expectations. That being said, it was still a fun ride and worth the read. Everyone I talk to says the series only gets better, and I'm up for the challenge.
Georgina is a relatable character (despite the fact she basically has to sell her body to stay alive). She has flaws, her relationship isn't perfect and she has temptations. I think we can all relate to that in some way. There are moments where I'm yelling in my head that this is a bad idea, but I know full well I've probably made one similar. Then, to top it all off, Seth is the dream man that every girl dreams of and more! That's probably why this is making out to be an excellent love story. He cares and understands her in ways most people just don't get, and it's super romantic. Yet, this isn't the typical romance novel. It's not ooey, gooey or mushy gushy - it's an adult relationship with depth and character (that might sound boring, but I promise you, there's lots of sex and sexy scenes in this book).
I found the plot to be predictable in this book, while I didn't really see everything coming in the first book. It's not the end of the world, but for a sequel I was surprised it didn't hit me as well as the first book did. Also... there was some quick forgiveness in this book and I feel like it's not entirely... accurate? Maybe it's just me.
Another plus for me is all of the side characters - the vampires, demons, angels, etc. Seriously, Carter seems like a fun guy, just saying.
Overall, Richelle Mead is a great writer with lots of grand ideas. I'd recommend picking up this series if you want a romance novel that is so much more (but still packs a good punch!). If you're tired of the tired billionaire or jerky bad boy, meet Seth the nerdy, sweet and understanding author. He'll give you chills and be the ultimate book boyfriend.

I took down half of my drink in one gulp. “Sometimes I look around, and I can’t believe this is my life.”
OKAY. That was really weird. It was an entertaining book but I don't know. It lacked something to make my heart race. I mean we're dealing with something dark here. The evil forces are not very... well scary for me.
Georgina's relationship with Seth is really unrealistic. I mean, yeah I know, SETH is freaking perfect and he wasn't doormat but I still can't believe he can forgive THAT easily after well.. being cheated to. I mean, maybe love does make you do that, I mean still accept a person after doing a terrible mistake. BUT. I still can't suspend my disbelief.
I was mostly sad for them both. What do you do when you finally found what you need just to know that it'll be never within your reach? Anyway, I liked it when Georgina spends time with Seth's family. It was just adorable.
The romantic aspect aside, there was a plot. It was crazy. I burst out laughing when Dana's confession came. It was so weird! I did not see that coming. :O
I also liked the secondary characters. I particularly love Carter.
So yeah that's all. Recommended for mature readers because there was a lot of extreme scenes going on.

OMG - WHAT AN ENDING!!! ha ha I loved it!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed book 2, I love the way relationships are building and how things are progressing with everyone, obviously with Seth and Georgina, but even the others are tugging at me! I really am liking the relationship between Carter and Jerome too, they are almost like mom and dad (I did say almost lol)
This storyline had a number of twists and a few endings to reach and then the ending of the book - bloody hell, I've read cliffhangers and been caught up, I've reached for handkerchiefs and sobbed, I've been left dumbstruck or even full of laughter, but hell, this ending was an unexpected one and I loved it!!! - You wanna know? Read the book!!!

It gets better, I won’t bother writing a lengthy review about this. Wow I love this book, Richelle Mead keep giving me more reasons to love her.
The writing is amazing and the plot is just great. The characters are one of a kind, Bastein the newest character is one hot iccubus. The romance did not overshadow the paranormal and vice versa, the plot was portrayed beautifully. I love that Georgina works in a bookstore and is crazy about books, makes her character so relatable.

The only thing I didn’t like is that I expected killing Sol a lot harder than that, not a one blow thingy.

I don't suggest reading this if you haven't read this, because it contains spoilers, I'm sorry. I'm a scatterbrain today (even more than normal) so this is basically me saying random things that pop into my head. (and spelling errors will have to wait for when I get home)
It's been a while since I read a book that didn't feel like I was reading at all. The pages just keep coming, my mind stays focussed on the story and I'm always sad I have to put it down. I'm still in the middle of a 4-or-5-stars debate with myself, so my rating may change soon.
What's to say... I didn't like the red crystal part of the book, it felt a little bit like 'we need at least one supernatural thing to happen here' and the parts with Dana (I'm suddenly not sure about her name anymore for some reason) were a bit boring.
I know it's a little odd, giving a book a good rating, while having quite a few issues with it. But so many amazing things make up for the 'bad' stuff. But I will keep my biggest objection for last...
Georgina and Seth. I lost count of how many times I sat there, melting in my comfy chair. I gasped, I swooned. Thetis... my god, (this is my love for pet names surfacing) I'll marry the first guy who comes up with something that appropriate for me. The final scenes were very, very enjoyable ^^ One other thing: Seth is loyal, but a little bit too loyal for his own good. I've seen doormats giving up quicker than he does. I know it must be hard for him, but seriously...
I love and hate Bastien. I really liked everything about him, he's a good friend to Georgina. From the moment he walked through the door I wanted to yell "DON'T YOU DARE TURN INTO SETH" and then when he finally did I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a spoon. Don't get me wrong, I'm dusgusted with G as well for falling for it, but what he did was so below the belt we need shovels and a flashlight. And then Bastien goes ahead and throws it into Seth's face, before G gets a chance to tell him, that's even worse.
So... I'm already sure the next book will rip out my heart, complete with a stampede running over it and tearing it to pieces.

I LOVE RICHELLE MEAD!!!
Mead is one of my favourite authors. I absolutely love her voice. Whether she writes YA or UF, she’s able to capture me entirely until I flip that last page. It’s amazing how quickly I can devour one of her novels, and it’s almost unfair since she spends so much time writing them!
Succubus on Top is the second book in the Georgina Kincaid series and I loved it! Seth and Georgie are in a stable relationship, one where they go on romantic dates, spend time with Seth’s family and do all the other great things that couples do in a relationship. But there’s always that unspoken and incessant need that has yet to be fulfilled. Would the sex be worth it, even if it means knocking off a few years of Seth’s life? Can Georgina live with the knowledge that she is killing Seth? Talk about buzz kill!
I’ll admit I’m still not overly enthused about Seth. He’s too shy and too quiet for me, but I can definitely believe the romance between Seth and Georgina.
I liked Bastian. I thought it was cool to see an incubus in action, even though he wasn’t as suave as he thought he was. He brought a sort of companionship that Georgina needed, especially since he was familiar with her line of work. She could share things with him that she couldn’t necessarily share with say, Carter or even Seth.
Needless to say, I loved this book! It was smart, sexy, and funny! I always forget how hilarious this series is, so whenever I come back to it, it’s always a good time. I can’t wait to read Succubus Dreams ! I heard it’s a good one!

I liked this book more than I thought I would. The female main character, Kincaid, is still pretty awesome.
The story was maybe a bit boring at one point, but it picked back up after a while, so it was ok.
The guy isn't what I expected though. I haven't decided if I like him or not. He's certainly something else though.
All in all, if you liked the first book, then you'll like this one as well. If not, well... nothing really changes, so not really worth trying for more :P

Succubus On Top is the second book in the Georgina Kincaid Series and my least favorite so far. I think that in some ways, this book did not live up to my standards and expectations for it. It didn't really leave me feeling good about Georgina.
I liked that Seth and Georgina were together. All the sweet moments with his family brought a wholesome (for lack of a better word) factor to the novel. At the end, when Georgina and Seth find a way to have sex but not left me feeling good about them, especially after everything that happened with Bastien (I'll get to him later). Again, I loved seeing Carter, Hugh, Cody, and Peter.
Now, the big things I didn't like about this book all revolved around one person: Bastien. First, I hated, absolutely hated, that he and Georgina had sex. I blame him for starting it because he kissed her and then tempted her by taking Seth's shape, but I also blame Georgina. She should not have ever slept with him, especially knowing that it wasn't Seth. I felt like she was cheating on Seth because she chose to sleep with Bastien; he wasn't like the other guys she sleeps with because she has to sleep with them because she's a succubus. I also didn't like that she continued to refer to him as Seth while she was having sex with Bastien. That's what got me the most; she knew it wasn't Seth, yet she did it anyway and continued to delude herself, making herself think it was Seth. Then, when Bastien was so rude at Georgina's house the next day to Seth, I really wanted to smack him. The second thing I didn't like was the whole Bastien/Dana thing. I felt like that part was way to drawn out and took up too much of the novel.
Aside from those two things, and the blow job she gives the guy at the club, I liked this novel. I won't lie. The beginning of the book brought back memories of a certain movie...
But let's not make this all about Georgie and Seth. Doug's been acting weird lately and Georgie's old friend, Bastien, is in town for a special mission requiring her assistance.
Ugh. Who am I kidding. I don't want to talk about Doug and Bastien. I caught on to their problems way before Georgie figured it out. What I really, really want to talk about is my problem with how the whole thing with was glossed over. I feel that Seth has been so lenient with her, and inasmuch as I love him, I hate that he was so darn good and understanding! I wanted fury! Jealousy! Relationship drama! I don't hate Georgie for what she did but I can't help but feel that she got away with it.
Favourite parts:
1. The flashbacks. I love nostalgia, and I connected to Georgie more in her past life. I love the scenes with Seth and Georgie, I really do, but gave me goosebumps and heart flutters.
2. The scenes with the gang. Gawd I love Jerome and Carter.
3. Georgie's present. *blush*
4. Painting with the Mortensens.

Πολύ καλό! Για άλλη μια φορά η Μιντ καταφέρνει να σε μεταφέρει στον κόσμο της, ένα κόσμο ο οποίος είναι μέρος του δικού μας. Αυτό που θέλω να πω, είναι ότι το βιβλίο εξελίσσεται στην εποχή μας προσθέτοντας τα στοιχεία του κόσμου της. Στην προκειμένη περίπτωση ένα σύστημα δαιμόνων, αγγέλων και φυσικά succubus 😉.
Στα θετικά του συγκαταλεγεται ότι σε σχέση με άλλα βιβλία της Mead δεν υπάρχει η επανάληψη, η σύνδεση με το πρώτο βιβλίο γίνεται ομαλά. Σίγουρα βέβαια συνεχίζει να χτίζει πάνω στους χαρακτήρες της, δίνοντας μας έξτρα πληροφορίες για τη ζωή και το παρελθόν της Georgina 😊.
Οφείλω να ομολογήσω ότι το πρώτο βιβλίο μου άρεσε περισσότερο, χωρίς αυτό να σημαίνει ότι αυτό δεν ήταν καλό(4* έδωσα άλλωστε), αλλά κατ' εμε υπήρχε περισσότερη δράση και το στοιχείο της έκπληξης. Στα θετικά του συγκαταλεγεται ότι σε σχέση με άλλα βιβλία της Mead δεν υπάρχει η επανάληψη, η σύνδεση με το πρώτο βιβλίο γίνεται ομαλά. Σίγουρα βέβαια συνεχίζει να χτίζει πάνω στους χαρακτήρες της, δίνοντας μας έξτρα πληροφορίες για τη ζωή και το παρελθόν της Georgina 😊.
Οφείλω να ομολογήσω ότι το πρώτο βιβλίο μου άρεσε περισσότερο, χωρίς αυτό να σημαίνει ότι αυτό δεν ήταν καλό(4* έδωσα άλλωστε), αλλά κατ' εμε υπήρχε περισσότερη δράση και το στοιχείο της έκπληξης. Actually 4.5 Stars for the awesomeness that is Seth Mortensen
This is the second book in the Georgina Kincaid series. Georgina is a succubus, which by definition means she has to have sex to survive, who is in love with a mortal. Unfortunately, their relationship has to be a chaste one because if Georgina makes love with him, she will suck the life out of him until he's dead. This is the premise for what is one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read; why, because they can't have sex. Let me elaborate. Seth doesn't love Georgina because she's hot and great in the sack, he genuinely loves her for who she is. Their relationship is not at all based on sex, and that's what makes it beautiful to me. I mean, I don't know know about the rest of you but most of the books I read ascribe to the first comes sex, then comes marriage school of thought. The characters usually fall for the sex before they fall for the person. It's so nice to see a romance can actually blossom without it (in a book, there's no way this would work in real life, but it's nice to dream, heh!). Another central dogma of most books these days are also bad boys. In the post-Damon Salvatore world we live in, bad boys are the hot topic, they sell books and are the epitome of sexy. Well, move over dark and tortured sexy bad boy souls, Seth Mortensen has arrived.

To tell you the truth, I care more about Seth than I do Georgina. Of course, a romance like theirs is going to have problems, basically, their inability to have sex is, well, painful to read about. I swear I could practically feel the frustration dripping from every page. .
So far this review has mostly been me gushing over Seth but other things happened to. Some of Georgina's human friends seem to be acting strangely and dangerously, and basically partying like it's 1969. Something or someone is causing it, and our girl is on the case. She may debauch mortal men for a living but nobody messes with her mortal friends and gets away with it. At the same, an old friend comes to town and needs Georgina's help to debauch this bigoted religious leader of a sort and basically ruin her reputation, but she's turning out to be a tough sell. Basically, Georgina has her work cut out for her on many fronts, including taking care of the bookstore while every one seems to be calling in sick, while having a sweet if complicated relationship with our favorite fictional author. Nothing our girl can't handle, but it's a good thing Georgina's really great at multitasking!

Succubus on Top is not engaging as Succubus Blues but still theres the occasional moment of brilliance, funny dialogue, agonizing sexual tension between Georgina and Seth (Sobs, I literally cried again) & interesting mythology references. I wholly appreciate that in the past two books Richelle Mead emphasized a massive and healthy views about sexuality, feminism and a bunch of important talks.

If I wasn't sure whether to classify the first book as YA or NA, this book definitely clarified it: it's NA all the way. This time I've felt like things got waaay more serious than before and there were a lot of new things presented, including some that belong to the bad side of society and human nature.

With Bastien, Georgina's old incubus friend, coming to town for a mission and with her attempt at a somewhat normal relationship with Seth, Georgina's hands are already full. Having to also sort out the mess that seems to be a new constant state at the bookstore and deal with the weird behavior that Doug and his band begin to display, only make the succubus more busy than ever. Especially when her investigation leads to a new intruder who appears to be an immortal from another mythical faction and, as always, she's just in the middle of things.
"But, the other truth is that humans are not meant to be perfect. That’s what humanity is: a series of successes and failures, a testing of one’s own nature and aptitude."
Besides the things I've come to expect after the first book (oh, you know, banter and teasing, a mystery and sexy scenes), this time we also got more serious matters, like the fight anti racism and homophobia, the harsh condition of females of the past and the aftermath of substance use.

It was filled with sweet, frustrating and unexpected moments and I can definitely see how they are endgame, but they have a long way to go. Georgina is still too much on the dark side to be ready for this sort of love and I feel like she needs to handle some things for herself before being fully ready for this. And Seth is sweet and very patient, but this situation might be a bit too much for him, even if we don't see it yet. Not to mention, there's also the issue with them not being able to do more than handholding.

Bastien was a nice addition and it spiced things up a bit, having an incubus in the story. I feel like he brought to light a wilder side of Georgina, which wasn't exactly for the best, but I think he's the one who actually learned a lesson in the end.

I've read this book in less than a day because I simply couldn't put it down, even if it got frustrating at times. I did appreciate the new complexity layer that got added to the story, with all the religious systems and with having other dieties involved. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and I'm holding my fingers crossed for some Roman apparitions and maybe more Carter-wisom.

I didn't like Georgina in the first book but I liked Seth well enough that I wanted to give it another try. In a sense, I'm glad I did because now I definitely know Georgina is not the kind of heroine I'd ever get behind. To paraphrase Dickens, these pages didn't show Georgina as the hero of her own life, in fact, they showed her as the villain.
You see, Georgina is how imagine people like Bernie Maddoff must be like. Not the kind that makes one big mistake and learns from it, but the weak, selfish and self-serving type that does bad things every day but keeps justifying it. They don't stand for anything and prefer to harm millions of others with their actions. They think that doing evil deeds doesn't make them bad people, that filling guilty or having rare pangs of conscience makes up for their behavior. IT DOESN'T. They are pieces of shit who always take the easy way out.
Believe it or not, the fact that she was 'doing her job' while being with Seth didn't bother me as much because he was fine with that. I hate the 'I can't be with you for your own good' plot and I'm glad that Georgina accepted Seth's decision. I thought it was weird - Seth seemed to good to be true - but I took that as face value. I felt a little creeped out reading about her escapades (she seemed like a reluctant prostitute doing her job) but whatever. However, she showed her true colors with the Bastian episode. She knew it was wrong but couldn't say no (the justification: we evil people are not used to denying ourselves.) I couldn't believe that she would do the same thing that first destroyed her marriage! Doesn't this woman ever learn? Or are her masochists' tendencies so overdeveloped that she thought that she needed Seth's punishment in lieu of her husband's? Does she think this would make it alright?
And I like how she pulls the 'evil' people card when it suits her. I think I would respect her more if she truly enjoyed damning people but it clear she doesn't. But instead of being strong enough to try to find a way around it, she does her job in her merry way and then pretends to feel bad about it now and then.
At the end though, what made me despise was when she resorted to drugs (that ambrosia was pretty much like a drug) to resolve a freaking problem at work! As always, she took the easy way out! (I've never worked in a bookstore and I think I could have found a way around her problem without taking drugs.) Instead of finding a solution by herself and maybe dealing with a mistake as a professional would have, she took the ambrosia because she needed to prove to herself that her only talent wasn't sucking c*ck. Poor little Georgina, so lacking of confidence that she needs drugs to bolster her ego. Boohoo! And even worse, she gave it to a person who she knew could be hurt by it! How would she know that Jodi wouldn't become addicted at once? It freaking happens!!!
I like characters that learn from their mistakes and do the right thing even when it's hard to do. It's obvious that Georgina is not this type. I feel sorry for Seth but I'm not willing to be in Georgina's head even for him. Right now, I feel like I should wash my brain with bleach, she made me feel so disgusted.

Re-read with Ash Wednesday, Bailey and Tandie:
This is a series that deserves a re-read. Wow the extra stuff I picked up the second time through. Let's just say that while I really was sure where the story line was going I definitely missed some of the biggest hints the first time through.
Seth is still my favorite Beta book boyfriend, Georgina could do almost anything, including but not limited to stealing my husband, and I'd still love her, Bastien can rot in hell or Omaha, Carter is my bright shining star of hope and Jerome I see now what you are doing....I'm mad you are wearing John Cussack's face while you do it.
"How's your high-wire act with Seth going?"
I turned to him almost having forgotten that reference. "Bad"
"Did you look down?"
"Worse than that. I fell off. I fell off and hit bottom."
The angel regarded me with this steady gaze. "Then you'd better get back on."
Carter <3<3<3 you. You give that little nudge whenever it is needed to get our girl back on track.
So much better the second time around. I'm bumping it up to 4 stars, just for foreshadowing awesomeness

3.75 Stars It got and extra 0.25 stars because Seth is so damn cute and I love his t-shirt collection.
Georgina made another deal with the devil, now she has to put her feelings aside and go after some good souls for Hell. But it is worth it if Seth remembers her and they can try having a relationship. That comes with its own problems. What is a succubus to do when she can’t make love to the one person she really wants to. Also there seems to be a new immortal in town, some weird drug activity and an old friend needs a little help.
So I realized why I had a few issue with this book and it all comes down to fidelity. Yes yes I know Georgina is a succubus but I guess I thought if she was in love she would have more conflicts sleeping around. But that would perhaps make her whinier and that wouldn’t particularly be entertaining. I really just want her to be open and honest with Seth and currently that doesn’t seem to be happening.
Seth is as cute as ever. I really just want to eat him up. He really loves Georgina and is willing to put up with so much just to be close to her. She on the other had is still so closed off about her past and really isn’t being honest with him and even though there were a few glimpses into her past I’ll I thought about is that she is making the same mistakes all over…..and then she did.
There is some action on the side as she sleuths around to figure out what is causing Doug and some others around her to act so erratic. She is also helping her former partner in crime an incubus pull off a high scoring political figure to save his job.
But let me be honest….I’m in this for the relationship of Georgina and Seth. I love it I have to admit and so much of it was a-freaking-dor-able. Until Georgina faltered and made the same mistakes she made in her past, which was infuriating. But, I liked the story even if some of it was predictable I was still entertained and I totally enjoyed the ending of this book. I still see some underlying plots going that will most likely carry through to the last book and I’m trying to figure out how all of them will work in but this was a solid follow up to the first book.

This series is quirky and riddled with humor as our beloved succubus Georgina Kincaid attempts to have a relationship with author Seth, fulfill her duties as a succubus and handle her day job at a local bookstore in downtown Seattle.
In Succubus on Top, Georgina becomes concerned when her co-worker Doug’s behavior changes and thinks there may be something supernatural at work. Bastien, her best friend and alluring incubus needs her help corrupting a conservative talk show host and her relationship with Seth is getting complicated. All of these threads are interwoven throughout the tale and laced with humor.
Georgina is a complicated succubus and I found myself adoring her even as I was occasional annoyed. She is curious, flawed and has this ability to get things done. She is keenly aware of things around her, and by nature a fixer. Her life is complicated and I cannot imagine not being able to have an intimate relationship with someone when it sucks the life out of your partner. She makes mistakes frequently, but recognizes them and is brutally honest even at her own detriment.
Seth is geeky, socially awkward and for some reason I find him incredibly sexy. These two create intimacy without sex and it has a depth to it that I find endearing and oddly romantic.
Bastien, her bestie is just how I picture an incubus but Mead shows us a softer, more vulnerable side.. Bastien is without a doubt selfish but his impish charm keeps you from wanting to hit him over the head.
Georgina enlists the help of her supernatural friends to determine what is happening to Doug. The case was filled with twists so of course she quickly found herself in danger. Carter, the angel is perhaps my favorite character, and I really want more of this quiet, mysterious soul. Their unique friendship grounds the series and their interactions are filled with snark and humor. I am listening to this series on audio and feel it is the perfect story for this format. Elisabeth Rodgers does an excellent job of giving each character a unique voice and captures their personalities. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer
In Succubus on Top, Georgina becomes concerned when her co-worker Doug’s behavior changes and thinks there may be something supernatural at work. Bastien, her best friend and alluring incubus needs her help corrupting a conservative talk show host and her relationship with Seth is getting complicated. All of these threads are interwoven throughout the tale and laced with humor.
Georgina is a complicated succubus and I found myself adoring her even as I was occasional annoyed. She is curious, flawed and has this ability to get things done. She is keenly aware of things around her, and by nature a fixer. Her life is complicated and I cannot imagine not being able to have an intimate relationship with someone when it sucks the life out of your partner. She makes mistakes frequently, but recognizes them and is brutally honest even at her own detriment.
Seth is geeky, socially awkward and for some reason I find him incredibly sexy. These two create intimacy without sex and it has a depth to it that I find endearing and oddly romantic.
Bastien, her bestie is just how I picture an incubus but Mead shows us a softer, more vulnerable side.. Bastien is without a doubt selfish but his impish charm keeps you from wanting to hit him over the head.
Georgina enlists the help of her supernatural friends to determine what is happening to Doug. The case was filled with twists so of course she quickly found herself in danger. Carter, the angel is perhaps my favorite character, and I really want more of this quiet, mysterious soul. Their unique friendship grounds the series and their interactions are filled with snark and humor.
