Becoming is a powerful book of reflection and inspiration. I thought it might be political, but it’s not. It’s all about her as a daughter, a woman, a black woman, a mother, and wife.

I liked the way it was organized in three parts. Her voice and vision shined through the pages.

I waited 3 months to get a copy from the library and it was well worth the wait.

Intimate, inspiring, revelatory, profound, resplendent...there are no words that can adequately capture the power and eloquence with which my forever First Lady tells her story. It's one of the best memoirs I've ever read, and it's certainly my favorite political memoir. Mrs. Obama is an extraordinary storyteller

12/11 You bet read this for a second time just a couple of weeks after finishing it the first time so I could listen to her tell her story. I recommend both the print and audio versions! ...more

I have never been drawn to any celebrity autobiographies-- which are, in my opinion, simply an opportunity for self-aggrandizement, but our former and widely missed FLOTUS always deserves a close look, not only by virtue of being a classy, thoughtful, hard-working, and intelligent woman (and intentional mother), but because of what she represents for the U.S. and (more importantly for me) my daughters. I actually own this book, but a friend convinced me to not read it, and instead listen to Michelle read it on Audible. I’ve never listened to an audiobook before, but I am SO SO SO GLAD that I took that friend’s advice because I truly feel like I got so much more out of the experience by listening to Michelle tell her story. It was beautiful, it was funny, it made me laugh and cry and gasp...and most of all it made me miss the Obama family so fiercely that it hurts.

Listened to the audiobook and was moved to tears many times throughout the book. Michelle Obama has a wonderful and soothing voice. Her care and compassion were obvious. There were some parts at the end that felt a little choppy, like she was trying to get in all her stories but was also trying to wrap it up quickly.
