I won’t give much away as this is a quick story that you’ll whizz through. The focus is on two people who feel alone, left out and apart from everyone else. They are Sad Ghosts. A strong emphasis on mental health in teenagers and how stress can effect them. But ultimately a heart warming tale, with beautiful illustrations and dashes of humour.
Also the author is from my home town so yes to that!
I will be looking out for more from The Sad Ghost Club. ...more

Nick and Charlie want to take things to the next level. But have no idea what they are doing. Meanwhile Nick is looking at university options which might take him away from Charlie.
I liked the really honest look at sexual relationships in here, and relationships in general. Really interested in Tori so I definitely need to read Solitaire now! ...more
I think this might be my favourite instalment so far! Nick and Charlie have been together a while now, and they ar “Love can’t cure a mental illness.”
I think this might be my favourite instalment so far! Nick and Charlie have been together a while now, and they are both thinking about saying those 3 big words. However Nick still isn’t out to his dad yet, and he is also very worried about Charlie. There was a lot more focus on Charlie’s mental health and how the characters handle that. I really liked seeing this and watching how Nick and Charlie navigate this new territory.
Overall, super sweet as always with a slightly darker undertone this time. Roll on Volume 5! ...more

Nick and Charlie are officially dating, and a school trip to Paris with all their friends sounds perfect!
But with Nick still not completely out yet, and a few homophobic assholes around things were never gonna run smoothly.
I love all the different characters in here, I love the difficult issues Alice Osman tackles including homophobia, self harm and eating disorders. I’m sad that I have to wait until 2021 for the next instalment. But I can’t wait for more Nick and Charlie.
Also I mentioned in my review of volume 1 that I didn’t see Charlie as much of a Slytherin - which is what Alice Osman classed him as in the bio, but he was definitely more Slytherin in here, in the best way!
This was my first graphic novel and it was so damn cute!
Charlie and Nick are one school year apart, they've never spoken before unHow adorable!

This was my first graphic novel and it was so damn cute!
Charlie and Nick are one school year apart, they've never spoken before until they are seated next to each other in their tutor group. Soon their acquaintance evolves into friendship. Charlie joins the school rugby team that Nick is on and they realise they have more in common than they first thought.
There is so much more to this book than meets the eye. Characters discovering their sexuality, dealing with bullying and homophobia, there is even a scene dealing with consent and sexual harassment.
I can't wait to see how Nick and Charlie's relationship continues! ...more

Think it might be my least favourite by Gaiman. Sorry Neil.
There's not many things in the book world I don't like, I have my preferences, but generally I'll read anything. But one thing I've never been a fan of, and probably never will be, is vampires. Don't ask me why because I couldn't really say why, but as narratives and plots go, I don't like them.
I can see what Neil was trying to do, it just wasn't for me. Nude illustrations and Snow White as a blood sucking vampire, I'll pass.
Give me Stardust or Coraline anytime, this isn't the Neil I love....more
