In my very humble opinion, this book doesn't compare to the books it lists with here on Goodreads. I also don't find it very comparable to The Fabric of our Souls - that book owned me. This one? I haven't wanted to pick it up since I put it down last week.
The FMC is insufferable, the plot is so far fetched. I've heard this story gets even loopier and goes right off the rails and into a dumpster fire at the 50% mark, which I didn't make.
I'm saving myself and my sanity and calling it quits at 32%

LOL first of all as soon as you start this .. literally the first sentence you are thrusted into total chaos(I know, you would expect that to be the point but hear me out). The plane is already going down, there's a million characters and you just don't know where to let the majority of your focus settle. My ADHD and anxiety were in overdrive. Not because I was so gripped with what was going on, but because I didn't know WTF was going on.
One of the problems I had was that so much of this story is focused on the technical and logistical issues and extremely drawn out and detailed explanations of them and the parts and functions of a plane and or devices used to extract survivors. Like? Err.. IDGAF- At. All.
Our two main characters are a soon to be divorced couple who just happen to be an engineer and the other is a mechanic for huge aircrafts or ships-not sure and don't care. The two of them and their huge ego's and cocky attitudes is so annoying. I get that they share a daughter that is on the plane and they are obviously trying to save her- but the whole vibe of we won't survive if it's not us dictating every move of the rescue gets really old quick.
I know I'm really in the minority here but I have no interest in reading an instruction manual....more

Alright, so this starts so very Saw like. Do you wanna play a game? Only not even remotely as tense or scary. This was just so slow and drawn out for me, I found myself getting so irritated every time I picked up this book past 20%. There’s a lot of similarities to Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann as well. Unlike Still Beating, here we have two strangers who were drugged, abducted and placed into a bunker of sorts. The “puppeteer” tortures them and this is the part that just really dragged for me, rinse and repeat.
Also unlike Still Beating this book was not very good....more
