Did I like Helen? Not really. She annoyed the living shit out of me sometimes with her stubbornness and overall lack of common sense sometimes.
Was it a tad insta-love? Yeah
But I utterly loved this book despite all of that. The romance was spicyyyy and tension filled and Grant Shepard will go down as one of my favourite mmc’s of ALL TIME. That is a man written by a woman. The way he never gave up truly cracked my heart by the end of this book.
Tears were also shed at the end of this book (I almost never cry over books) and it hurt my soul a bit.
I also really enjoyed the book to screen portion of this book. It’s always been such a fascinating thing to me as a reader, so getting some BTS was epic - especially since Yulin Huang is a writer and director herself.
While I still enjoyed this one, it didn't give the same oomph as Powerless (which is by far one of my favourite books of all tiWell, that ending HURT.

After reading Once Upon a Broken Heart, this book put me back together and then broke me in half again and again. This book provoked so much emotion in me. One second I was squealing with happiness and the next I was trying not to cry. It's definitely one of my absolute favourite books ever now.
No surprise that I still don't love Evangeline... I'm sorry, but she is just so stupid and naive. She was slightly better in this book, but again, slightly. On the bright side, Jacks makes up for it. I LOVE THAT MAN. He can do no wrong.

I wish we had a Warner pov in this book because although I love Kenji, I don't truly care for his storyline (ahh sorry haha). My heart hurt once again for Warner and Juliette in this book, and some of the torture scenes were hard to read personally.
All in all, I'm glad I pushed through and finished this series, but a big part of me wishes the series simply ended with the Ignite Me. ...more

Long story short, I should've read more reviews before reading this book because I was not prepared. The first two novels were rom-coms and I was under the impression that this was too. It. Is. Not. This book was very sad and had me crying at some parts. Overall, it was very heavy - Anna's deteriorating mental state, the gaslighting from her family, her father's sickness, caregiver burnout, cancer and a few other topics.
I will forever love Helen Hoang's books and writing style, but this book was not my cup of tea. It had beautiful characters and I loved the writing, but the heavy storyline was not for me. ...more

The story starts out when Sara Burns attempts to kill one of the four horsemen. Unfortunately for her, they can't be killed and she is taken prisoner by Pestilence. The horseman's first thoughts are to cause her great pain and suffering, but as the story progresses they both begin to realize their true feelings. I usually love books that have a love to hate romance between the characters, but not this one. I also felt that the book was pretty predictable with what will happen next... Someone dies or gets sick or gets hurt... blah blah blah
MY LIKES - Sara's character. Sara has a totally hilarious personality. She is always thinking about funny and relatable things. One of my favourite things said by her was, "I might be the one Canadian who can’t stand the cold. Everyone else is like, “Hey look, I can see the sun today, and even though it’s cold enough to freeze water, by God, I think this is T-shirt weather!” " This was absolutely hilarious and relatable to me as a Canadian.
MY DISLIKES - Pestilence. Ugh, where do I even begin with this guy? He is downright stupid sometimes anddddd his one purpose in life is to kill people with the plague. Like seriously? You would think that he might give it up (view spoiler)[ I KNOW THAT HE DID IN THE END, BUT WHATS DONE IS DONE (hide spoiler)] but no....he keeps killing people even though Sara BEGS him to stop. - The plot. I don't really love the whole: They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all. - The romance. I will admit that some parts of it were okay, but most of it wasn't. At first, they both hated each other more than anything in the world. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN... BAM, THEY IN LOVE. I don't know if I am the only one that felt this way about it though.
OH and oml... When the older couple died I was in literal tears. I was a wreck. It was one of the saddest moment in a book that I have ever read. Me while reading it:

To start off this review I just want to say that although this book was good, the first one was so much better. There were some confusing and slow parts of the story that I didn't particularly like. Also, the first half of the book was a little bit boring for me. But overall this book was pretty good.
The book takes place right after the events in The Wrath and the Dawn . Shahrzad is forced away from her beloved husband to live in the desert with her family. The problem now is that her family, along with others are planning an attack on Khalid. Now she has to choose sides and determine whats right and what should be right. Now using her awakening magic Shahrzad will rescue those she loves and protect her one true love.
LIKES - Khalid: Okay so as said in my review for the first book, I absolutely love this character. He is kind and always treats Shahrzad as his equal. This book also provided us with more scenes from his POV, which I loved. He also has the best sense of dry humour - Shahrzad: The best things that I can say about Shahrzad is that she is brave, inspiring, loving, but most importantly she is someone who never gives up. Renee Ahdieh provides us with one the best book heroes ever. - THE EPILOGUE: This was one of the best epilogues ever written... and that's all I'm going to say.
DISLIKES - Irsa: Dammit this girl annoyed me more than anything else. She was always so weak and boring. And continuously thinking about Rahim and her love for him. Girl, we only need to know once. - The pages before the epilogue: (view spoiler)[ "But the dagger found its final mark. In the heart of the Caliph of Khorasan" THESE WERE THE WORST WORDS I HAVE EVER READ. I was gonna die if he hadn't been brought back to life. I originally thought that that was the end and I was having a mental breakdown. Let me just say that there were lots of tears before I realized that there were 10 more pages. This was literally me:

So I mean the book was pretty good, but was the first one better? YES. But still, it was a great read.
