Promoting help, hope and healing to child abuse victims and their families throughout the Pee Dee
About us
As a children’s advocacy center, CARE House of the Pee Dee’s mission is to promote help, hope, and healing in a nurturing environment to child abuse victims and their families, through supportive services and prevention. The CARE House began in 2004 when Law Enforcement identified a need for a more effective and efficient facility to provide forensic services to victims of maltreatment. A permanent location was identified and renovations began shortly after. In October of 2006, the CARE House opened their doors for the first time at the new facility; we also obtained Non-profit status in December of the same year. The first Board of Directors meeting was held in March of 2007. We officially obtained National Accreditation in September of 2009. To date, CARE House has served over 5,800 children in need of our services. CARE House started out with its primary focus on forensics; interviews and medicals. Over the last ten years, we have broadened our focus to encompass therapies to help children through the whole process of healing from their trauma. We provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Alternative to Families a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. We also provide advocacy to every family that walks through our doors. As we have grown, we have still maintained our focus on helping children of the Pee Dee.

Forensic Medical Exams are head-to-toe examinations of the body by a specially-trained medical provider. Our forensic medical exams are completed by Dr. Michael Foxworth. During the exams, the medical provider assesses the child for evidence of child abuse injuries or neglect. This medical evaluation is usually not painful or invasive. #childabusepreventionmonth

Take Action Today! Call on Congressional leaders TODAY to protect children and the work of Children's Advocacy Centers like us! The Crime Victims Fund has dwindled over the years but now it is facing a nearly 40% cut. This has the potential to leave countless children without the support they need and we are getting closer and closer to the end of the road. Now is the time to take action! #TakeAction #CAREHouseHeroes #ActionAlert
The Crime Victims Fund has dwindled over the years but now it is facing a nearly 40% cut. We now call on our Congressional leaders to spur action on the Hill and see the Crime Victims’ Fund revived with the next appropriations bill! Congress has the toolkit to get the CVF back on track for crime victims and their families nationwide. This has the potential to leave countless children without the support they need and we are getting closer and closer to the end of the road. Now is the time to take action!
