Christmas is a special time for many, a time for friends and family. But for all too many people, Christmas can be a difficult time, a time where isolation and loneliness can be amplified. On leaving the Armed Forces, many find the transition to civy street a difficult time. It can be a lonely time trying to forge a new life outside of the Armed Forces family - even more so when your time in the Armed Forces is cut short due to injury, illness and deeper battles. This is why support pathways for Veterans are so important. As well as receiving the support and guidance needed, they can then link in with the SWV Veteran Support Network, so that loneliness and isolation is less of a problem. This time of year highlights even more the need for Veterans Charities, so Veterans can reach out and feel supported. To find out more about the Veteran support pathways on offer, please click on the link below... https://lnkd.in/guWgFtXT To donate- Text VETERANS to 70470 to donate £10 Or VETERANS20 to donate £20

Saying you're Veteran Friendly as an employer is about more than just hiring a few veterans for street credit. It's recognizing their exceptional skills that align with your needs. But is that enough? I believe companies should support military/veteran non-profits, too! If you're not matching donations to mil-vet nonprofits made by your employees within your corporate matching program, are you truly supporting military/veterans or just your organizational needs with skilled military/veteran talent? Something to think about. Do more. Be better. Match. #hvvtf #hiringveterans #milvetnonprofitgiving #supportourtroops #veteranfriendly #giveback

#gamers #veteranshelpingveterans #veterans #ptsdawareness #ptsdtherapy Tactical Advance to Game (TAG) is a military (serving and veteran) Discord community set up alongside Game Therapy UK (GTUK), (See Below) who are developing therapeutic gaming for veterans with PTSD. The TAG community is where serving military and veterans can get together to game online, support each other, and devlop evidence for therapeutic gaming for PTSD. All GMs are vetted and 'trained' by UKGT, and are all military themselves. They're looking at training up more GMs, for more games, as the community grows. So if there are any veterans or serving military in here (from any country) that are interested in coming along to game, or just be there to support their fellow veterans, please get it touch and you can make it happen...

On Veteran’s Day, we thank all those who have served our Country. Here are 8 Ways to Say 'Thank You Veterans' on Veterans Day 🇺🇸 1. Say "Thank You Veterans" by Showing Up – find and attend your local Veterans Day parade 2. Donate to Veteran-Focused Charities – Check out Wounded Warrior, Operation Second Chance, Freedom Service Dogs of America 3. Fly a Flag – Correctly. Checkout miliary.com to learn the proper rules for displaying the American Flag 4. Ask Someone About Their Service. Chances are, they will want to share with you. 5. Write a letter to say "thank you veterans". Visit the Soldiers of Angels website to learn more 6. Don't Confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day. Veterans Day is a time to thank those who are serving or have served and are still with us. Memorial Day is to reflect and remember those who lost their lives in service to their country. Confusing the two or combining the two diminishes the importance of both. 7. Visit a VA Hospital - Many VA facilities will have events on Veterans Day or a special lunch you can help prepare. 8. Get Outdoors with a Veteran - Invite a veteran or a military family to explore a national park; admission is free for all visitors on Veterans Day. Being outside helps improve physical and mental health, boosts emotional well-being and is a great way to celebrate the day with a veteran. ❤️🤍💙 #childfamilycenter #veteransmentalhealth #veteransday

Hi LinkedIn friends! I am taking on the Army-Navy 100 Mile Challenge. All donations, support, partnership, and accountability is encouraged, as I begin logging miles on Dec 1 but am accepting donations starting now! Suicide rates among active-duty military members are currently at an all-time high since record-keeping began after 9/11 and have been increasing over the past five years at an alarmingly steady pace. In fact, some branches of the Armed Forces are experiencing the highest rate of suicides since before World War Il. In 2021, research found that 30,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide - compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years. That is, military suicide rates are four times higher than deaths that occurred during military operations. For military families and parents, whose active duty loved one already sacrifices so much to protect our freedom, this trend is extremely troubling. l am not a runner but decided to take on this challenge to show solidarity with the brave people who continuously serve us everyday. 100 Miles is hard but it is nothing compared to the Mental Health struggle our service members often face. As a younger sister to an active service member who has mourned more than anyone should, it is important that we begin to have these hard conversations and offer support, even if we are just civilians. Thank you for your support and donations! https://lnkd.in/ecgJwAMe

This weekend I saw a lot businesses posting "Happy Memorial Day!" content. "Come out to Rudy's Bar and celebrate the long holiday weekend with us, we're selling $5 orange crushes all day long!" Memorial Day is to remember the hundreds of thousands of military members who gave the ultimate sacrifice and never came home to their families. Asking people to come to your restaurant to "celebrate the holiday" feels really wrong for Memorial Day. Are we forgetting what it's really about? Here are a few ways you can post on social or email your customers about Memorial Day that honors the military members and their families: 1. Share a link to an organization that helps families of fallen soldiers asking for donations, like the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation 2. Donate 10% of your proceeds on Memorial Day to a reputable organization like the Wounded Warrior Project 3. Highlight a veteran who works at your company and thank them for their service 4. Offer a 20% discount to all active military members to thank them for their service 5. Be like Born Primitive (pictured below) and don't ask anything of your customers, simply post about Memorial Day in a way that honors the fallen. They also shared a really great video on their Instagram and Facebook pages to remind everyone of the true meaning of Memorial Day. Please take a moment to watch it, I'll link it in the comments. #MemorialDay #Military #HonorTheFallen

Each year, Wawa, Inc. teams up with the USO and local members of the Air and Army National Guard for the annual tradition known as Operation Taste of Home, where together, they assemble care packages. This year, as #VeteransDay approaches, this annual tradition continues as Wawa associates, members of the Wawa Veterans’ Alliance and members of the USO and Pennsylvania National Guard plan to assemble more than 10,000 care packages that will be sent to service members stationed abroad. The Wawa Foundation will also be presenting the USO with a check for over a million dollars raised through customer donations! These campaigns make it easy for customers to donate and show that even small amounts can make a big difference — often totaling millions of dollars. Yes, believe it or not, that small change you donate as you make your purchase can actually make a huge difference in the lives of American service members, military spouses and military children. #TheUSO’s corporate partnerships help to fund major USO programs that support service members and their families — programs that keep them connected while they are stationed or deployed anywhere in the world.

NCUA Approves Expansion of “Qualified Charity” to Veterans Organizations Earlier this year, Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) and NAFCU (National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions) sent a joint letter to the NCUA Board. In the letter, we asked the NCUA to amend the definition of a “qualified charity” as it relates to Charitable Donation Accounts (CDAs) in Part 721.3 of NCUA regulations to include 501(c)(19) veterans’ organizations. Today, our efforts were a great success! The NCUA's decision to grant this revision will not only lessen previous restrictions defense credit unions faced when contributing to veterans' organizations but will also provide all credit unions with more opportunity to better serve their veteran members and communities! DCUC will continue working with each of our member credit unions alongside other veteran service organizations when advocating for the financial prosperity of our Nation's veterans. Lastly, DCUC would like to thank NAFCU for their help in drafting several joint letters, and for their consistent advocacy efforts, along with Abound Credit Union, TruStage, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF), and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). We also want to thank the NCUA Board and staff for making this possible. #veterans #veterancommunity #veteranssupportingveterans #militarycommunity #military
