This knowledge is incredibly pertinent, given the growing importance of addressing mental health in today's complex world. This course delved into: 🧠 Understanding adolescent development, mental health, and psychosocial wellbeing. 🤝 Effective ways to support them in humanitarian settings. 💡 Conducting impact assessments to tackle their unique challenges. The insights from this course aren't just theoretical; they can profoundly impact the lives of young people in crisis and conflict-affected regions. It's a reminder of our duty to use knowledge to make a tangible and positive difference. #MentalHealthSupport #HumanitarianSupport #Resilience

July is BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month. We know that people of color often face a disproportionate impact from mental health conditions due to the stigma surrounding mental health in BIPOC communities and limited access to mental health resources. WJC primarily serves students of color who come from under resourced communities where they have experienced injustice and violence. Our programs create opportunities for them to find alternatives to conflict through Peer Mediation and Healing Circles. We have found that Healing Circles have helped students foster a sense of belonging and joy, which can significantly impact mental health. Peer Mediation allows students to feel empowered in a supportive environment, while enhancing their communication skills and boosting self-esteem. When young people feel connected and accepted within their communities, they are more likely to experience lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. Mental health matters! #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth #HealingCircles #PeerMediation #Resilience #MentalHealthMatters #BIPOCMentalHealth #Depression #RestorativeJustice

Mental health awareness has gained significant traction in various communities worldwide in recent years. We have often covered the topic from different cultures, different age groups, and different developmental abilities. However, within Asian cultures, discussions surrounding mental health often remain shrouded in silence and stigma. Asian Americans are the least likely racial group to take action on their mental health and are more likely to reach out to friends and family. As Christian counselors, it is crucial to address the unique challenges faced by Asian individuals in navigating mental health issues, especially within the context of the Church, where stigma can be particularly pronounced.
