The 2024-25 Stanley Cup Odds place the defending NHL champions Florida Panthers second on the odds board at +900, while the Edmonton Oilers have the best chance of winning in 2025 at +850.
Nashville's post-free agency odds jumped from +3500 in the last week of June, to +1800. GM Barry Trotz has put his team in a competitive position. Here are our Stanley Cup betting odds through mid-July.

Edmonton Oilers Are The Early Cup Favorites
After making it to the dance and pushing the Cats to Game 7 after trailing 3-0, the Oilers have the resiliency to return to the Cup final in 2025. Additionally, this will be Connor McDavid's second last year on his contract in the City of Champions. He came close to a Cup this year, you know he'll be hungrier than ever to win it in 2025.
Signing Viktor Arvidsson to a two-year contract was a shrewd move by the Oilers. The free agent is a proven 30-goal scorer and can score 60+ points. His acquisition brings much-needed depth to the top six.
Goaltending will remain the biggest question mark for the Oilers but the glimpses of brilliance from Stuart Skinner facing eliminations this postseason help put those worries to bed.
Nashville Predators Free Agency Steals Move them Up Oddsboard
As soon as the free agency window opened on July 1, the Predators got thrilling contracts signed instantly. In a string of blockbuster signings, Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei are all heading to Smashville.
After 16 seasons spent in Tampa Bay, Stamkos, a two-time Stanley Cup winner, will be throwing on new threads next year. At 34 years old, Stamkos still managed to mark a 40-goal season for the seventh time in his career.

Then, there's Marchessault, who won the Conn Smythe two seasons ago while leading Vegas to its first title in franchise history. The Quebec native marked a career-high 42 goals this year.
Moving on from the Canes, Skjei will likely be thrown in a d-pairing with Roman Josi. The 30-year-old is coming off a career-high 47-point campaign, complimenting his stats as a +15 too.
Nashville just added offensive weapons that come with experience to their lineup.
2024-25 Stanley Cup Champion Value Picks
Predicting a winner for a title over a year away is a guessing game, but the profit is worth a sprinkle.
Colorado Avalanche
The only flaw in the Avs team last year was goaltending. Trusting career backup Alexandar Georgiev to be their everyday starter was a bad call. The Bulgarian averaged a poor 3.02GAA and 0.897. If Justus Annunen who stepped into the crease at the end of the season can hold similar numbers to his 0.928SV% and 2.25GAA the Avs should be much closer to the top of the Stanley Cup odds board.
Annunen may have only played 14 games last year, but he's been excellent at every level. Over his last two AHL seasons, Annunen holds an average of 2.58GAA and a 0.913SV%.
Not to mention I love their recent acquisition of Oliver Kylington. The left-shot defenseman is a former 34-point player with eight goals. At 27 years of age, he's still in his prime and could be a massive acquisition to the Avalanche's third pair. To get him at just over $1 million on the cap was a huge steal.

Getting the Avs at +1300 is incredible value if you think Annunen can be that stable starter. You're looking at a $1,400 return on a $100 bet.
Vancouver Canucks
Things may have worked out differently for the Canucks without all those goalie injuries in the playoffs. However, third-stringer Arturs Silovs took on the hero role, forcing a Game 7 against Edmonton and keeping all but one matchup within a one-goal distance.
For their first postseason appearance since 2020, making it to the second round is a good experience for the Canucks. The top six defense and offense from last regular season should carry over. Then, maybe a healthy Thatcher Demko helps make a decent playoff run.
Last 10 Stanley Cup Winners
Year | Cup Champions | Opening Odds |
---|---|---|
2024 | Florida Panthers | +2000 |
2023 | Vegas Golden Knights | +1800 |
2022 | Colorado Avalanche | +600 |
2021 | Tampa Bay Lightning | +900 |
2020 | Tampa Bay Lightning | +675 |
2019 | St. Louis Blues | +3000 |
2018 | Washington Capitals | +1125 |
2017 | Pittsburgh Penguins | +1100 |
2016 | Pittsburgh Penguins | +1300 |
2015 | Chicago Blackhawks | +700 |
Over the past 10 years, the average opening odds for the eventual Stanley Cup champions are +1320. So don't always bet on the chalk.
The Blues are the big exception with +3000 before the ’18-19 season began, netting early bettors $3,000 on a $100 bet, but it gets better! By the All-Star break that year, the Blues were at the bottom of the NHL standings – their odds of winning the Stanley Cup were +10000. That means a $100 bet would have returned a whopping $10,000 in profits. Wild.
NHL Teams With The Most Stanley Cups
Team | Stanley Cups | Last Cup Win |
---|---|---|
Montreal Canadiens | 24 | 1993 |
Toronto Maple Leafs | 13 | 1967 |
Detroit Red Wings | 11 | 2008 |
Boston Bruins | 6 | 2011 |
Chicago Blackhawks | 6 | 2015 |
Edmonton Oilers | 5 | 1990 |
Pittsburgh Penguins | 5 | 2017 |
New York Islanders | 4 | 1983 |
New York Rangers | 4 | 1994 |
New Jersey Devils | 3 | 2003 |
Toronto sure has a lot of Cups, but they haven't won or even been to a Stanley Cup Final since that last championship back in 1967. Breaking their drought of first-round exits in the 2023 playoffs, let’s pray for Leafs fans that their squad can battle back to the finals soon.
However, with modern parity in the NHL, it's going to take a long time for any franchise to pass the Montreal Canadiens' 24 Stanley Cup banners, which they racked up over multiple decades in the mid-1900s.
NHL Teams That Have Never Won A Stanley Cup
With Florida's championship in 2024, there are now only 10 teams who haven't won a Cup. But that's still under a third of the league, who have yet to put their hands on the Stanley Cup.
Most of the teams on this list have come close. All but Arizona, Columbus, Minnesota, Seattle and Winnipeg have at least appeared in a Stanley Cup Final.
Now, technically the Ottawa Senators did win a few Stanley Cups, but the last championship took place before the invention of penicillin, not to mention the Senators didn't exist between 1934 (when they moved to St. Louis) and 1992. So, I'm not going to count those. Sorry Sens fans!

If you feel strongly about the Leafs and believe they’ll end their Stanley Cup drought, you could wager $100 on them at +550 odds. If they triumph, you’d get a payout of $650 – your original $100 is returned along with winnings of $550. Our odds calculator will show you how much you’d win based on the odds and amount bet.
The Stanley Cup odds constantly change throughout the season – relevant news like trades, player injuries, and hot/cold streaks are a few examples of what can move a team’s line. What Are Stanley Cup Futures
A futures bet is betting on the outcome of an event before it takes place – when it comes to the Stanley Cup, that means betting on who will hoist the league's top trophy well before it's awarded.
It’s simple on paper, but the wealth of options can make it tricky. Don’t worry if you’re risk-averse though. Odds are available well right up to the final game of the playoffs.
