What to Know

Critics Consensus

Saturated in disquieting mood while leveraging a nightmarishly gonzo performance by Nicolas Cage, Longlegs is a satanic horror that effectively instills panic.

Justin Chang NPR Part of what makes the film so effective is that it doesn’t really depend on secrets or surprises. The writer and director Osgood Perkins summons an atmosphere of dread so intense, it’s practically spoiler-proof. Jul 19, 2024 Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) Does Longlegs expand our understanding of what a horror film can be? No. Was I scared? Not overpoweringly, though I did shift in my seat a couple of times. Is it creepy? Absolutely. Rated: 3.5/5 Jul 18, 2024 Full Review Joey Shapiro Chicago Reader It’s stunning how quickly it unravels into mediocrity after that interaction, how frantically it tries to scrub away any trace of mystery with flashbacks and voiceovers... Jul 17, 2024 Full Review Sean Chandler Sean Chandler Talks About A throwback serial killer film. Longlegs wears its influences on its sleeve, but it also delivers an entirely unique experience. Perkins does an excellent job of create a constant sense of unease through the camera work and sound design. Rated: A- Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Peter Gray The AU Review Longlegs indulges in its rejection of mainstream pandering. It’s consciously structured to build anxiety with those that surrender to its nightmarish, passive mentality. Rated: 5/5 Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Cody Leach Cody Leach (YouTube) Longlegs is a refreshing throwback to serial killer horror/thrillers of the 90s. Static wide angle shots create this sense of unease that is omnipresent throughout the film as we slowly uncover the true nature of Nic Cage's wild and disturbing character. Ximena It was genuinely so disturbing. You don’t know where the plot will take you but trust me it’s worth it. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and when I left i was still in shock. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Toby spooky, great story, kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Jason O First half was interesting, discovering capabilities and working a cypher....but it kind of drug-on in the 2nd half and ending was a bit expected, and less interesting than hoped for. Definitely won't watch again...was okay but not really clicking on all cylinders. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review D C W Meh. The film looks good and starts out okay but ultimately goes nowhere. Too bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Sidni I thought it was good but definitely not as scary as people made it seem. More of a thriller than scary to be honest. The acting is amazing though. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Wendy Slow burn but great ending. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review Read all reviews
