David Opie Empire Magazine Rashida Jones gives a career-best performance in this strange yet moving series that pushes back against the algorithm by pulling us to and fro in surprising, unpredictable ways. Rated: 4/5 Jul 16, 2024 Full Review Judy Berman TIME Magazine If viewers come back for Season 2, it will be thanks to the characters, not the cliffhangers. Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya Autostraddle Sunny feels less like a warning of the dangers of AI and more like another effort to normalize it. As a grief drama and character study, it’s thrilling. As a tech dystopia, it’s murky. Jul 12, 2024 Full Review Akos Peterbencze The Screen What if robots can help us rediscover our humanity and the emotions that make us who we are without posing a threat to mankind? This is a lovely and curious notion to ponder, and the writers explore it thoughtfully with nuance. Jul 19, 2024 Full Review Andrew Anthony Observer (UK) The most original and tonally arresting show of the week was Sunny, a slightly futuristic Apple TV+ tale set in Japan. Rated: 5/5 Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India This sci-fi dramedy excels on many fronts, with its standout feature being a plot that blends drama and comedy within a sci-fi framework. The series boasts excellent cinematography and an absorbing direction... Rated: 4/5 Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Stephen F This show was a surprise for me. Hadn’t heard much about it but 4 episodes in and I’m really liking it. Interesting story, well paced and Rashida Jones knocking it out of the park. Looking forward to this one weekly. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/19/24 Full Review Rustin R I am writing this when this show has 3 episodes released. Firstly, I am a big fan of almost everything A24 produces. This show seems to have potential, but I do worry that the story is sort of meandering or not really focused enough for a 30 minute show. Some of the pacing and direction of the characters so far seems sort of questionable too. The robot she has for instance acts really differently in episode 3 compared to the first 2 episodes. The third episode was also really quite slow and I was losing interest. It seems like it needs more character development perhaps. I also think this sort of show would be better off if they released 2 episodes a week. One 30 minute episode per week doesn't do well with keeping the viewers engaged in my opinion. I will update this review after I have seen the whole season. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Spring H I dont really have any idea where this story is going. But im loving the bot Sunny and hope that in the end she’s one of the good guys. She’s sassy and spirited and humanistic and quite a joy Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/18/24 Full Review Sean M Sunny is quite possibly the most A24 feeling series they have produced. A slow burn mystery steeped in grief explored through science fiction. While some of its moving parts take awhile to get going, the conclusion is extremely satisfying and leaves you wanting more. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/17/24 Full Review Cherry S pretty good and rashida is great Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Adam P 2 episodes in and I can’t quit! Love that Apple slow releases their shows. Gives you time to process, and discuss with friends. Rashida jones is amazing, and her relationship with the robot is endearing. The robots cartoonish appearance could have been a retraction, but Sunny’s whimsy counter balances Jones’s malaise perfectly. The mystery is very general at this point, but I’m excited to see where the show leads us! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews
