Jordan Mintzer Hollywood Reporter It’s a lot to take in at first, but Delaporte and de la Patellière are specialists at dishing out plot points both smoothly and expeditiously. Jul 10, 2024 Full Review Peter Debruge Variety A stunning, emotionally satisfying adventure tale, built on rock-solid source material. Compared to earlier adaptations, this latest version is briskly paced and rousingly acted by an all-around stellar ensemble. Jun 11, 2024 Full Review Wendy Ide Screen International Everything about this robust and very enjoyable retelling of the Alexandre Dumas classic is epic in scale: from the lavish sets and the orchestral score to the bold performances and the hefty running time. But it is an epic approach that is well-earned. May 24, 2024 Full Review C.J. Prince The Film Stage While these large-scale productions typically get the life taken from them by committee in Hollywood, this film’s stone-faced commitment to executing such silly spectacle makes for an uneven, mostly good time. Rated: B- Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Jeff Nelson Guy at the Movies The Count of Monte-Cristo is a supremely satisfying epic that imbues a classic story for a new age. Rated: 4/5 Jul 20, 2024 Full Review Lisa Nesselson France24 Bottomlessly juicy. Jul 9, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Sarah L The impossible task of cramming the five books of Monte Cristo into a 3hr film has led to a superficial whirlwind of romantic drama with no substance and siropy sweet dialogues. A disappointment since the filming and acting were for the most part of high quality. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/23/24 Full Review Audience Member Intense from beginning to end, with fantastic actors. Yes the plot is really dense – which was inevitable considering the length of the source material – but the film manages to make sense of everything that's happening, thus justifying the necessary cuts made in the original Dumas's story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/23/24 Full Review Sancho L They may have well have given the movie a new name and said it was inspired by the book. Movie was rush all the way. They didn't follow the plot. Count of Monte Cristo is a masterpiece you don't just do whatever you want. If you are not going to faithful to the book then don't make a movie at all on it. Just do something else. We did not see any of the Count brilliance in the movie just a guy with anger issues with a lot of money to throw around. Read the book!!!! Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 07/22/24 Full Review Kylian W The movie is like the book ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Tom S Another masterpiece from Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière and a great performance from Pierre Niney. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/20/24 Full Review Evelina B Absolutely breathtaking. This is definitely the best movie I have seen in a long time.
