Stephen Romei The Australian This is a quiet, gentle, uplifting film about freeing oneself from the everyday and discovering the comfort of strangers - though not in the way Ian McEwan imagines. Rated: 3/5 May 28, 2024 Full Review Luke Buckmaster Guardian The Way, My Way is hardly riveting viewing -- but its softly inquisitive, life-affirming spirit is hard to hate. Rated: 3/5 May 16, 2024 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz The Way, My Way is a film that delivers exactly what the marketing is promising. This is a cheerful, modest and good-hearted movie – and I hope it finds the audience it deserves. Rated: 3.5/5 May 26, 2024 Full Review Jim Schembri jimschembri.com The journey appears as a ramble but slowly takes form as Bill nears his destination and brings new meaning to that lovely old cliche about how every ending is really a new beginning...a modest, finely etched, uplifting Australian film. Audience Member If you have walked to Camino, don’t watch this! I lasted 15 minutes watching self-centred, arrogant, rude man destroy my memories of the Camino. I gave it half a star for the beautiful scenery that I witnessed in the first 15 minutes. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/24 Full Review Stephen B We really adored this film. One the most real and heart warming journeys that touch the soul of your humanity. Highly recommended. I will now buy the book. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Ray M Loved it and am inspired to do this. Already booking flights and infrastructure for a year from now. A must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/22/24 Full Review Martin C Went to the local Cinema and thought this interesting so paidand my wife and I watched it. Very impressed, no idea what the Camino was although I had been to that part of Spain. Right from the start the story got me in heavily reinforced by fantastic use of drone footage (by Sydney man Scott Last). Find it amazing that only four of the cast were actually actors. The story line was tight and very well thought out. I did know of Bill Bennett and had seen a couple of his works before. Best film I have seen this year! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/16/24 Full Review T M Thoroughly enjoyed it. Fascinating that the people acting the friends he made on the way, were in fact the actual people not actors. I thought they performed extremely well and natural. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review Adam J Why I didn't like or connect to this movie. mediatrax28 May 2024 Did I like this movie? No. Why? It's corny. Acting is not the best, but one can blame the script. Why again? I am biased in that I did the Camino 2-years back & thoroughly enjoyed it. Was buggered each day, slept well. And started another new day. Met the most wonderful people doing exactly as i was. Any regrets? Most enjoyable age (IMO) would be before 50. I was 75, but fit. Get a good idea of the Camino? Go to YouTube. There are countless short films of people's real experiences, real dramas, etc. Best preparation about what to pack, what to wear, and everything you need to know. Do you need to know Spanish? Not really. Your company is the many others walking, and they're from all over the world. English is the prominent language, and people from all over want to practice it. Take an Iphone with 'Translate' and Google Maps just in case. Expect to get lost occasionally, which is not a bad thing. Back to the film. How come there was nobody, or very few others, walking as well. Did they pick a slow period? Suggestions. Do the Camino yourself. It's all worth it, whatever your reason/s. The experience is better than any movie you'll see. The scenery is fantastic. The locals are amazing. The food is unforgettable. I apologise for not liking the movie, but is simply did not connect to the reality that I experienced. A really good movie is waiting to be done. The Martin Sheen attempt is far from perfect, but the best so far. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/09/24 Full Review Read all reviews
