Heather Armstrong

Heather Armstrong started at News 19 in November of 2010.

She anchors Live at 5 and co-anchors the weekday 6 & 10 PM newscasts.

Before coming to News 19, Heather was a reporter for various California stations and an infield producer for Emmy Award-winning “Cheap Eats” in Los Angeles.  She also worked at KBAK/Fox in Bakersfield and served as TV Host of City Council Live for ESTV3 for eight years. She has won various awards including a 2010 Emmy for the PSA, “Kids Finance” which she produced/directed.

Heather grew up in New York City but attended college in Pennsylvania at St. Francis University.  After graduation, she worked on Wall Street for a brief time before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Broadcast Journalism.

She interned at CNN, CBS, CBS Sports, and Fox Sports Net where she was later hired.

Before COVID, Heather could be seen taking any number of animals to nursing homes and other facilities for the purpose of providing a much-needed distraction for the elderly and those battling addiction.  She is also an advocate for people with disabilities, sharing their stories, and helping them find their place in the community.

Heather reports on various stories but her latest passion is featuring everyday people in a series called “Everyone Has a Story.”

When she isn’t working, Heather spends time outdoors with her many rescue animals.

Heather gets most of her story ideas from people who stop her on the street, and from viewers who write in.  If you have an idea send her an email at [email protected] or send her a message on Facebook @MyNewsisGoodNews.
