I needed a belt for my Hoover vacuum so I went to A-1 Vacuum-Sewing this afternoon. The store was closed so I called the posted number and spoke with Bobby. He confirmed he has the belt and offered to meet me at the store a few hours later. Turns out my son had a belt so I cancelled the order with Bobby.

Bobby's offer to meet me at A1 Vacuum-Sewing with the vacuum belt was 5-Star customer service! When I need repairs or parts in the future, for either my vacuum or sewing machine, A-1 Vacuum-Sewing will have my business.

      Updated review

I believe in second chances so I decided to give this place a try again. My Miele vacuum's piece that is used to vacuum the carpets was not spinning. Note: The motor was COMPLETELY functional.

First day I came, I met Eva. Pretty nice person who said that there was no one able to check the vacuum and that she would take it (my vacuum) to their Oakland shop to get evaluated. I agreed. She wrote down my information on their invoice/receipt and she said she'd call me when it's ready.

A couple days later, I called Eva to follow up because I have not heard anything. I called and I was told Eva would be in "later" and that she'd call me, but I ended up calling again because I waited all day and no call. I spoke with Eva and she told me to pick up the vacuum- She said she turned it on and it WORKS. When I asked what the cost was and what was done, she couldn't locate the receipt/invoice. She said she'd have it by the time I arrived.

When I got to the store, Eva still could not find the invoice. She just gave me my vacuum and said that since she couldn't find the invoice, to just take my vacuum. In a hurry to finish more errands, I thanked her and drove home.

When I got home, I inspected my vacuum and noticed that the inside was just cleaned up. I plugged the vacuum in and turned it on. Immediately, it was loud and my house started to smell like burning rubber. I had to open all my windows- the smell was painful to breathe in.

The problem I came with was still there- the part used to vacuum the carpet was still not spinning. The company messed up my motor! I did not leave my vacuum like this at all.

I called Eva immediately and told her what happened. I even plugged it in at her store and turned it out- it smelt like burned rubber! She swore she turned it on that day and it worked. I was upset saying that My motor was working and that the only issue was the attachment used to vacuum the carpets was not spinning. She ended up giving me a loaner vacuum that was not good at all. I said that I should not be charged for the motor I did it break and she agreed.

Fred, the owner, called me a couple days later saying that the problem was the hose and the motor. I can understand the hose, but not the motor because I did not bring my vacuum to the store with a broken motor.

I explained the situation with Frank and he didn't care. He said, "motors can go bad anytime." Still, my motor was completely functional when I turned it in for repair. Frank tried to charge me over $500 despite me telling him multiple times that I did not mess up the motor. The motor was messed up after I picked it up from his store. He said he would call me back after researching if he could find used parts which would lower the cost and he'd extend some kind of warranty. He never called.

Eva ended up calling me back and leaving a message. I called back and said I did not want work done by the company. They are not trustworthy.

I ended up picking up my vacuum. The company broke my motor and never admitted to or compensated me for it. I gave the loaner vacuum back. Again, horrible customer service.

End result. Dissatisfaction. Never go here... even if you think they deserve a second chance.

They are overpriced and rude. Unfortunstly they are just about the only vac repair place I know of...but I still wont go there. I will find something else.

Dropped off a Bissell spot cleaner here for warranty repair. It was the closest location based on my location in the Peninsula. The repair required me to leave the machine with the guy so he could file for the warranty work with Biseell directly.

      Subtracted 2 stars because:
The owner here isn't really into customer service. It's just not his forte. Sure, he's able to service vacuums amd whatnot but doesn't have much social skills. He doesn't proactively tell you how the warranty process will work and what you should expect as to how you'll be notifed when the work is done. Also, it feels like a cold place to be in. Not inviting at all.

When the spot cleaner was ready, I never received any kind of notification (call, voicemail, nor text). I decided to call after waiting 2 weeks from drop-off date and it seemed to have caught him off guard when he tried to look up my repair in his possession. He made it sound like such a chore to look up my work order and finally after 5 minutes, said "it's ready" with no explanation nor elaboration of how the repair went. I asked if everything is working properly and he just tells me he replaced the hose, which the warranty was for. He didn't care to turn on the machine and try the new hose to make sure it's functioning the way it should (with no leaks). Thankfully it's working fine again.

There is a very short list of available warranty centers for Bissell in my area so I guess I have no choice but to come here for future repairs unless other closer service locations pop up. If you want a no-frills, customer-service-lacking type of center, this is the place for you.

Why i give a low rating:
2010 (this happened ten years ago but thought i'd submit a review of my experience
) -- brought in my Canary Mate (Jaguar, Japanese) because the feeder did not go up/down & hand wheel was stuck. After i picked it up, i tried the machine and the feeder was stuck again and felt that it really wasn't repaired well even though he stitched a cloth before i left, to show me it was fixed.

I'm just glad i tested it right away after receiving it back even though i had a 90 day warranty on the repair. I had to take the trouble to get it fixed again and this time it worked and i'm still using my machine without issues. (The younger man that "fixed" my machine did not seem professional in his attitude and that made me test it.

Great service! Carlos provided a wonderful service replacing the power cord on my Bissel carpet cleaner.
The only store that is servicing Bissel products is located in Concord.
Carlos didn't only helped me out with his amazing service, but also saved me lots of miles going to Concord.
Excellent personality, polite and professional person.
      Thank you Carlos!

Was told my belt needed to be replaced since my vac was no longer picking up dirt and dust. They recommended a deep cleaning, where they replace belts and clean hoses, etc. I said why not, I've had the vac for 20 years and I use it multiple times a week(I have a kid allergic to dust). Works great now!

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Carlos for his assistance in resolving a problem with our in house vacuum. Scheduling an appointment with him was a breeze. He was prompt, immediately diagnosed the problem and completed the repair within the same day. Later, I mistakenly thought our vacuum was suffering from additional problems. Carlos reviewed videos of the vacuum, took my calls and walked me through some simple steps and we are back in business.

Service such as that provided by Carlos is simply not common any more. I recommend him without any reservations. If businesses were as good as he was life would be 1,000x easier for consumers.

He just did a phenomenal job and I want to say thank you Carlos, you are superb and our family's first and only choice for servicing our vacuums. Thank you!!!!

My mother-in-law sewing machine stopped working. It is a 15-year-old sewing machine kenmore no longer manufactured. as we have experienced elderly's don't like change. I did borrow another sewing machine from my sister to by pass and see if she would be interested in purchasing that. Change is no fun.
I dropped it off and few days later got a call telling me what was the issue and the initial cost. When I told her if the cost she wasn't very happy and decided to not repair.
A week later I returned to pick up the machine and spoke to ------. I'm a amateur about sewing and sewing machine. He explained to me difference of the machine and how the cost factors. He was willing to match price or even order the machine I liked.
But the reason I give him 5 stars is he was HONEST. He told me a new same type of machine will cost me 500. And it would be in my best interest to repair. He could have easily up sold me but he was looking at my best interest and because I was there to help someone out.
He said if you take it home broken it will be garbage. Why not make use of it. And after repair machine should be good for a very long time.
Thank you for your honestly and kind heart I will return again for repairs.

$15 dollars for Diagnostic $100 for the repairs took a little over a week. Bottom line, don't expect a good customer service and an explanation of what the repair it. I think the price is steep and could have explain what was done as a courtesy. That's the cost of getting my machine fix.
