I loved Tammy, the previous owner, who was a tough act to follow. Fred has succeeded. There are few business owners as honest and kind as he. I brought in my Miele for a service and instead Bobby pinpointed my problem in less than five minutes, selling me a new hose that fixed the problem beautifully, saving me the money. I brought in an old Miele for a service that no longer had any suction and was disappointed when it came back looking beautiful, but still not functioning. It turned out the other workers were rushed with double parkers and didn't write down the problem (make sure you have them write down what you need!) When I returned Fred explained that the hose that was needed was no longer manufactured. He pulled out an old one and gave it to me free and it worked. He knew the machine was over 20 years old. He told me he would refund my money. Instead I decided to splurge and get a new vacuum at the bottom of the line, just a little more than what I paid 20 years ago. It was twice as powerful. Fred wanted me to be happy and applied the money I had spent on the service toward the new machine.

I was impressed with how he helped people to their cars with the vacuums and refused to ask the landlord to replace his rug, soiled from a fixed leaky roof. "He was so good to us during COVID. I don't want to make any fuss," Fred smiled.

Fred knew the age of the first vacuum I brought in. When I wanted the cord replaced he figured out it was my outlet at home. A very honest business. Just make sure you don't rush if you are double parked so that your wishes are understood and written down! At such challenging times, it's a relief to have a business that's working right, with honest people that you can count on.

I've been coming to Grand Lake Sew & Vac for many years, to get my sewing machine and vacuum tuned up or repaired. I really like this place because they are helpful and knowledgeable, and keep your expensive machines running for a reasonable price. Fred, who works here, has often helped me. He doesn't just fix my sewing machine; he answers my questions about how to sew.

Recently I decided to buy a new sewing machine, as my old one is 25 years old. It's a good machine (Janome) and still works, but I wanted one that has more features. I went online and found various reviews that referred me to sewing machines I could buy online. But if I bought a machine online, who would show me how to use it?

I came to Grand Lake Sew & Vac and Fred showed me a machine and explained how to use it. He was very nice and really took his time. I know if I have questions or problems, I can take it back and he'll explain it to me. If I need repair, I won't have to send it back to the manufacturer; I can bring it here.

In an age when small local businesses are vanishing, I'm so glad to have this level of personal service. It wouldn't be the same if I had bought something online.

I contacted Bissell in regards to my less than 1 year machine and They gave me their info. I dropped it off and they informed they would look at it. Surprisingly they called me and said they would replace it through warranty and they contacted Bissell themselves. I met with Fred and OMG i was sooo happy. I thought they could fix it but instead they went above and beyond and contacted Bissell themselves thank you soooo much!!! You guys r awesome!!! I definitely recommend them ...talk about service!!

Ok been going here since I was a kid. Now I'm old. Discovered new owners. Was lil suspicious it may not still be as good BUT it's actually better! Had the pleasure to chat with and do business with the owner Fred. Initially I went in for a minor repair to a vacuum. But realized my elderly mom needed a lighter user friendly but GOOD vacuum. Was introduced to an American Made machine by the name Riccar . An upright that has metal pieces as to opposed plastic. GREAT machine. Fred even was open to my bargaining and Gabe is a great deal. Good thing is he's an authorized warranty repair place as well. I highly recommend doing business with this small business owner who is very nice and knowledgeable- apparently he's been in the biz for 25 years.

. I brought my old Miele vacuum in but sadly the motor was worn out. However this is a great place to get expert advice on buying a new vacuum. The price was just as good as on Amazon & I got a longer warranty. Fred was so helpful in giving extra tips about how to get the most out of my new vacuum. Don't go anywhere else!!

We rely on our commercial vacuums to be working perfectly for our business (carpet cleaning) and when they fail I know that we can depend on Grand Lake Sewing & Vacuum Center to get us back in business ASAP. The shop is busy but Fred is always friendly, attentive and able to address our machinery issues. I highly recommend!

What more can I say than has already been reported here? However, I'll pile on anyway 'cause great local businesses deserve all the support we can give them.

The superlatives are:
- Know their stuff at the expert level whether you're bringing in a repair job or looking to purchase a new one.
- Refreshingly honest folks. If they tell you your vacuum cleaner has become a toaster and you need a new one, believe them.
- VERY competitive with online prices...I checked.
- They listen to what you need, recommend the best value and will explain the trade offs on lower cost options.
- Friendly and attentive customer service.
- And, worth repeating, this is a one location small business that shows you it's appreciation.

One last bit of advice: Many of us have a professional house cleaner who actually uses the vacuum most of the time. Sometimes our language skills aren't sufficient to explain how to use the features of a new device. So, while I was taking care of the paperwork with Fred, the most pleasant owner, Saul briefed our housekeeper in her native tongue so she'd be up to speed and take good care of our new mid-price Miele. Where else can you get service like that!

Silly me. Searched high and low for a particular vacuum filter and didn't realize that this shop is right here in my own backyard. They had it in stock. And they even replaced it for me. I wasn't in the market for a new vacuum however soon I'll have to replace it. So I decided to test drive a few along with my co-pilot (kid#3). The whir of the motors got us all revved up for spring cleaning. Dust bunnies beware!

I think these folks are super nice. I told Fred and Raja, who I think are the new owners, that it must be hard to take over a business that was so loved in the neighborhood, but so they are definitely winning my business.

I own a dog walking business and have cats and dogs in my home, plus I often board a couple dogs. The fur scene is intense. They tuned up my Miele Olympus, replaced a part that I didn't even realize was affecting the suction, and gave me a great deal on replacement bags. They also took care of my vacuum in a few hours so I didn't have to be without it--even for one night!

I will definitely continue to recommend this business.
