I'll begin by saying - show up early and expect to wait. We were a party of four and got the last (or second last) four top and we showed up at 6:00pm.

As a group we ate the short ribs (with bone marrow mashed potatoes, although they didn't take any different than any other good mashed potatoes), halibut cheeks and veal picatta along with sides of crispy brussel sprouts, cauliflower gratin and short rib mac & cheese.

The food is fantastic, albeit very heavy and is very much a treat of comfort food. Not anything you'd want to eat on a regular basis or if you are really watching what you're eating.

Service was efficient and great overall, the atmosphere was very fun and vibrant. I will definitely come back when I'm looking for this type of food again!

Visited during spring break and had such a fantastic dinner that we came back twice - had to have that roasted half chicken again! We loved all the food we tried - vibes were cozy and chic and prices were reasonable for the quality. Service was very nice but a little slow - but to be fair it was packed both nights.

We tried the West Coast Seafood Paella, the Mount Lehman Roasted Half Chicken, Bone Marrow Cheesy Bread, and the happy hour Beet & Arugula salad. Our fave was the roasted chicken - it was supple and savory sitting on top of creamy mashed potatoes and veggies cooked perfectly.

The paella was tasty - came with lots of mussels, chunks of fish, and creamy saffron risotto - but it only had 2 prawns and that was my fave of the dish lol. It had a nice flavor and if you love paella, you'll love it. The portion was large enough for me and my hubby to share.

The bone marrow was tasty and fun - but the portion of marrow is so puny lol - it was hardly enough to put on one toast. So I wouldn't order this again - for the price, they need to add another bone on the plate.

Their happy hour menu is excellent - lots of choices for food and drink at great prices and they offer it twice daily. The restaurant is roomy but cozy with warm, elegant ambiance even when it's busy and kinda loud.

It's a locally owned, small chain with three locations in Vancouver. The Yaletown location was convenient for us - we walked from our hotel so I'm not sure about the parking. But the area we walked through was just a little sketchy so be vigilant. But once you're in the Yaletown area it's very nice. They have patio seating that was cozy as well.

We found this restaurant near our Airbnb one afternoon with great reviews for poutines and decided to give it a try.

My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich and loved the sauce and flavor. He ended up upgrading the side to a full portion of pulled pork poutines since it's his first time trying poutines. Overall, he enjoyed the food and the beer and found it to be a really enjoyable experience.

The mushroom pappardelle on the other hand was quite a disappointment. The pasta was a bit dry (no sauce) and the walnut parm gremolada on top made it even worse (completely masked the flavor and made it taste like chewing on breadcrumbs). The mushroom was decent but not enough variety or quantity. Really wanted to like this dish but couldn't. Only ate half of it.

Overall 3 stars because of the pasta dish that seems to be a disappointment for many Yelpers who came before us. Hoping they might do something to reinvent the dish in the future.

Went with my friends for lunch and it was pretty good. Packed place, but the staff was really nice and handled it well. The food was a bit pricey, but that's pretty typical for a place in that area.

We ordered the beef carpaccio, calamari, and bone marrow toast to share. The bread on the bone marrow toast wasn't great, but everything else was really good. I'd definitely go back there again sometime.

      Yeah. No. Don't.
      I'll tell you why....

This place reminded me of the TITANIC. The aftermath.
You know...12,000 feet of wreckage under water of what used to be utter splendour.

Lively expert staff, warm cozy elegant vibe with candle lit tables setting the stage for an experience you didn't want to leave, and of course accompanied by an uncompromising Bar doing magic with cocktails they were so well known for. The Flying Pig Yaletown was the place to be for dinner, and on the weekends...well good luck getting in. Either you were in a lineup or had reservations weeks ahead.

Wellll.....we walked in and the place was eerily empty with a hostess, who I think just turned 18 and wanted to be anywhere but there. With all the empty seats, we were sat between the kitchen and the bathroom area. Not smart.

I ordered a specialty cocktail which they got wrong. I sent it back and they had to google how to make it. Yeah....really. Even the second attempt they got wrong. So, I just went with a good old margarita which was mostly ice.
Not sure though if the salt on the rim and the pretty little orange was worth 15 bucks. Moving on.....

The short rib was ok, but stingy portions. If the bone marrow has no marrow. Maybe not serve it? Or else it'll just come across as a large bone being served....kinda like the one my dog chews on after his walk.

Stunning. Exciting. Alluring The Flying Pig was years ago.
Now, we must simply walk by the desperate remnants of what used to be on Hamilton Street.

      We ordered:
Mac and Cheese (Happy Hour) $10.50
      PEI Mussels (Happy Hour) $14
      Mushroom Pappardelle $25
      Pork Chop $36
      Crispy Brussels Sprouts $12

Food was average and the mains were especially disappointing. The mushroom pappardelle which boasts of wild mushrooms was filled with what felt like button mushrooms, which might have been wild but definitely not what the phrase "wild mushrooms" calls to mind. The pork chop was dry.

Only the side of crispy brussels sprouts were good enough to reorder.

      10/10!

This meal made we want to cry. Literally, cry. Yes, cry! It was absolutely heavenly. If you are looking for a delicous Canadian food experience, this restaurant is it. I don't think it gets better than this. And if it does, please let me
know where. Not only am I passionate at eating out, but I'm also passionate about the food I cook. Therefore, when I taste love on a plate, it must be shared. This meal was truly for the books. Like if I were to die tomorrow, I'd want this to be one of my last meals.

My husband and I ordered the 14oz pork chop with a side of pork belly poutine. They will charge you an additional cost, but trust me, do it! The poutine gravy is divine. It reminds me of a gravy my mom makes at thanksgiving. She makes bone broth and then makes the most amazing gravy that is just so rich, you can taste the love. This was dare I say...identical! It was my first time trying poutine and I was swept away with these gravy smothered fries, with the cheese, and melt in your mouth pork. The hefty size pork chop was the BEST I have EVER had. Perfectly moist, seasoned, and tender!

We also ordered the stealhead trout. It was perhaps the most moist well seasoned piece of fish I've ever had. It was on top of a bed of risotto and broccolini and a side of brussel sprouts. There was seriously nothing wrong with any of the food. It was all PERFECTION.

The prices are very reasonable for everything they give. I'm just blown away. Service was excellent. Our waiter was so kind and attentive. I have nothing negative to say except for, I wish I would have gotten another order of pork belly poutine to go. Maybe some dessert too. Lol No, but seriously go check them out. You can thank me laters!

Yaletown is one of my favorite parts of Vancouver. Trendy and hip eateries line the streets. We came to The Flying Pig for happy hour and were able to grab a spot at the bar. They have an outstanding happy hour!

We went with the salmon cakes and some fries. Everything was tasty! Especially paired with a very well priced drink. Great deals available for such a nice spot.

The sides here are all incredible. I tried the truffle Mac and cheese, the caramelised onions and mushrooms and the steak and thought it was all really good.
I also for the salmon over seasonal vegetables and risotto. I devoured it, it was so good and buttery.
Staff and service was friendly, but the food did take a bit while to arrive.
I enjoyed this place a lot but for the price point and portion size, I would say I was a tiny bit disappointed.
I've heard the happy hour deals here are good so excited to come back for that!

Of the moment Canadian Cuisine w/Spectacular hits (and tragic misses)

The Flying Pig prides itself of showcasing the food of BC and for the most part it succeeds. Our Beet & Arugula salad, Bison Carpaccio, and Blackened Steelhead Trout were all delicious with just the right balance of salt and acid to brighten but not overwhelm the flavors of the produce and proteins. But the Mushroom Pappardelle was an abysmal failure...seemingly prepared by someone who had never eaten a mushroom dish before (or simply hates mushrooms). Instead of being sliced and sauteed to bring out the flavors and present them to the palate, they were served whole and almost raw.

The drinks were a similar story. The Cold Toddy was quite simply one of the best and most surprising drinks we've had in years, bringing together seemingly disparate elements into a balanced, delicious, and coherent whole
      - truly a master mixologist at work. The Fig And The Bear was only slightly less good...perhaps because it was more straightforward. But the Harvest Sangria was (again?) made by someone who either had never tasted Sangria (or simply hates it). Ideally balanced between the sweetness and brightness of the fruit and rich complexity and power of the wine, in this version the flavors of the wine were AWOL and the fruit left to itself. A tasty fruit cocktail...but not a Sangria.

The atmosphere was fun and funky and the service mixed. Our waiter and the other servers were exemplary until around 8PM when the entire world showed up for dinner and we were left alone waiting for our check for 20 minutes.

I wish I could give 4 1/2 stars...but the highs overwhelmed the lows.

Came here for our wedding anniversary and I can say we were really taken care of. Nice things thrown in for free like some champagne and a huge piece of cake.

The place is trendy without feeling alienating. It's dim, cozy, and all the pieces are in the right spots. The servers are friendly and well educated on the menu and the vibes are upbeat.

I had the 10oz steak and it was cooked to perfection, delicious. Fries were nothing crazy but were a nice change of pace to the chunk o meet.

This place was the full package when you want a more special night, good food, good service, and a feeling of ahhh that was nice when you leave full and happy. Not to mention, the prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality. Check it.
