Bluehawks End Men's Basketball Home Streak 87-78

BUTTE, Mont. – The team that ended the Montana Tech men's basketball winning streak on Kelvin Sampson Court is Dickinson State. The Bluehawks end the streak at 33 games downing the Orediggers 87-78.

The Bluehawks (3-2), led by former Tech assistant coach Derek Selvig, hand the No. 6 Orediggers (4-1) their first loss of the season.

The Bluehawks soared out of the gate in the first half going on a 21-9 run over six-and-half minutes and finished the half with a 44-29 lead. Dickinson shot 56.3% from the field and hit 7 of 14 from long.

Tech shot 34.4% from the field and hit just 1 of 12 from deep.

The Orediggers came out of the locker room hot after halftime opening the next frame with a 29-10 run erasing the Bluehawk lead. Tech went up 58-54 before the 11-minute mark.

Michael Ure had 14 points including three three-pointers and made three free throws after getting fouled on another. Asa Williams netted eight during the same run.

After a back and forth battle in the last half of the game, Dickinson went on a 12-4 run establishing a 11-point lead with two minutes to play.

The Orediggers shrunk the lead to six points twice, but couldn't pull even. The Orediggers finished shooting 35.2% from the field and made just 5 of 27 three-point attempts.

The Bluehawks had the advantage on the glass outrebounding the Orediggers 39-33.

Ure led the Orediggers with 20 points going 3 for 8 from long. Ure made 7 of 9 from the line and grabbed six rebounds.

Williams finished with 19 points, four rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Williams hit just 1 for 8 from long.

Keeley Bake had 13 points leading the bench scoring.

Ifeanyi Okeke led Tech with 10 rebounds. Okeke added eight points, two blocks and two steals.

The Bluehawks had five in double-figures led by Kose Egbule with 19 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists.

John Evans went had 18 points hitting 3 for 4 from long. Evans also had four rebounds.

Jaiden Wrigtht had 14 points, Cordell Stinson had 13 points and Gus Wright finished with 10.

The Orediggers finish the Montana Tech Fall Classic tomorrow night against Lewis-Clark State. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
