HELENA, Mont. – The No. 5 Carroll College Fighting Saints defeated Montana Tech in a lopsided game at the PE Center 61-34. 

The Orediggers (120-6, 1-2) drop their second straight conference game as they struggled against last year's conference champions.

Tech jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening minutes, but that faded quickly. 

The Orediggers shot 26.8% from the field and went 3 for 16 from long. 

The Orediggers finished with 16 turnovers. The Saints took advantage with 16 points off of turnovers while finishing with just 7 of their own. 

The Saints dominated the glass outrebounding the Orediggers 37-22 including 13 offensive rebounds. The Saints shot 35.1% from the field. 

Liv Wangerin had 9 points to lead the Diggers and Brooklynn Hankwitz scored 6. Wangerin and Hakwitz had 3 rebounds and 2 blocks each. 

Jamie Pickens went 4 for 5 finishing with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. 

Maddie Geritz had 14 points. Kyndall Keller had 12 points and Willa Albrecht finished with 11. 

Montana Tech returns home next week. The Orediggers host Montana Western Thursday in the HPER Complex.
