The Orediggers Run Past the Lights in Havre

Montana Tech Takes Down MSU-Northern 72-54

HAVRE, Mont- The Orediggers of Montana Tech have turned their 20th win of the season, with a 72-54 win at MSU-Northern.

The Orediggers (20-4, 10-1 Frontier) have now swept the Lights on the season, winning one at home, and two games in one of the toughest road environments in the Frontier Conference, the Armory in Havre.

Winners of six straight games, the Orediggers have been firing on all cylinders. The engine that is driving the success? Teamwork.

Montana Tech shot 53% from the floor in the win, their sixth straight game with a shooting percentage over 50%. The Orediggers also outrebounded the Lights 33-21. Eight of those rebounds for Tech were offensive, those eight boards resulting in 14 second-chance points.

Montana Tech had nine different players register points.

Hayden Diekhans led the Diggs in scoring with 14 points on a staggering 7/7 shooting. (Hayden also led in rebounding with 7) Michael Ure finished with a dozen points, and Caleb Bellach tallied 11.

MSU-Northern (10-14, 2-9 Frontier) was led by Zackry Martinez with 12 points. He was the only Light player with double-digit scoring.

Montana Tech will look to run their winning streak to seven games on Thursday when the Battlin' Bears of Rocky Mountain College come to the Mining City. Saturday, the Orediggers will celebrate Senior Day as the Saints of Carroll College will be in town.
