Orediggers Hold Back Saints 73-66

BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech picks up their eighth straight win and season sweep over the Carroll College Fighting Saint. The Orediggers defeat the Saints 73-66.

The Orediggers (22-4, 12-1) earned at least a share of the Frontier Conference regular season title with just two games left next week.

After controlling much of the first half, Tech held a 24-12 lead with 9:36 left before the break. The Oredigger offense slowed down and the Saints went on a 13-4 run over the next six minutes. Carroll came within two points 27-25 with 3:45 to play.

Caleb Bellach knocked down a pair of jumpers and a layup before the end of the half as Tech regained their offense. The Orediggers had a 37-31 lead at the break.

Bellach finished with 11 points in the game.

The Orediggers shot 41.9% from the field in the first half making 3 of 9 three-point attempts. The Saints were running at a similar clip shooting 40% from the field and also 3 for 9 from beyond the arc.
 
The Saints would come within three in the second half to make things interesting, but the Orediggers held the lead the entire game.
 
The Orediggers mad 17 of 22 free throw attempts in the game and finished shooting 43.1% from the field.
 
Asa Williams led the Orediggers with 18 points going 4 for 7 from deep and 6 of 11 from the field.
 
Ifeanyi Okeke had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks off the bench. Camdyn LaRance made up the other 23 bench point for Tech finishing with 11.
 
Michael Ure had 11 points.
 
Hayden Diekhans was dominant under the basket with 8 rebounds and 8 points. Diekhans also had 6 assists.
 
Andrew Cook led the Saints with 22 points and 5 rebounds.
 
Montana Tech heads to Dillon for there second to last game on Thursday. The Orediggers tip-off against the Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
