Argos Hand Orediggers 82-67 Loss in Season Finale

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Montana Tech women's basketball team wrapped up the regular season against No. 14 University of Providence. The Argos jumped out early and held the lead to the final buzzer defeating the Orediggers 82-67. 

The Orediggers dropped their last four games and finish with a 3-12 conference record.

The Argos built an early leading and finished the first quarter up 20-9 over the Orediggers. 

Tech was able to shave a couple points off the lead before halftime trailing 38-29 at the break. 

But the Argos highest scoring quarter came in the third putting up 28 points. 

The Orediggers shot 30.9% from the field in the first quarter, but finished strong to the fourth quarter shooting 69.2% from the field. Tech finished the game shooting 46.6%. 

The Argos shot 48.4% from the field and made 12 of 13 from thew free throw line. 

Tech went 7 for 14 from the free throw line. 

The Orediggers outrebounded the Argo 38-30, but only had 6 points on 12 offensive rebounds. 

Tech committed 16 turnovers that the Argos turned into 15 points. 

The Tech bench put up 44 points lead by Macy Mayer with 13. Mayer went 5 for 8 from the field and finished with 7 rebounds in 22 minutes. 

Brooke Badovinac had 10 points going 2 for 2 from three-point range and 4 for 5 from the field. 

Kia Wasson had 9 points, 3 rebounds, and a pair of steals. Wasson shot 4 for 8 from the field. 

Challis Westwater went 4 for 5 from the field finishing with 9 points. 

Brooklynn Hankwitz had 10 points and 5 rebounds. 

Ashlee Maldonado led the Argos with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. 

The Frontier Conference Tournament is up next. The Orediggers will play in the first round on Thursday.
