Montana Tech to compete at Nationals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The official final rosters and entry lists for the 2024 NAIA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship qualifiers have been announced.

The Orediggers will be represented by a group of six women, and five men.

The women are all part of the Distance Medley Team, which enters as the No. 16 seed with a qualifying time of 12:28.73. The team consists of Abby Clark, Kamryn Comba, Carlin Manning, McKenzie Sheils, Jadyn Vermillion, and Peyton Walker.

Individually Abby Clark will compete in the Pentathlon, she enters with the 7th highest point total in the NAIA at 3329. Kamryn Comba qualified in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:36.70, that time qualified her at 15th.

Carlin Manning will run in the 5000-meter. He qualified 20th with a time of 17:55.42.

Jadyn Vermillion made the cut in the long jump, with a mark of 5.59m, which qualified her 13th.

Where the Oredigger women are very much the 'Track' portion of Track and Field, the Oredigger men are heavy in the field. The addition of assistant coach Felisha Johnson, with her incredible wealth of throwing knowledge, has made an immediate impact on Montana Tech. The men's program has five athletes competing at the Championships, three of those are in throws.

Braden Anderson, Jesse Mecham, and Cade VanVleet are all going to South Dakota to throw the shot put. Anderson qualified 36th with a throw of 15.35m, Jesse Mecham is 30th at 15.62m, and VanVleet is the 16th highest qualifier at 16.22m.

Also, Nicolo Lancini will be jumping in South Dakota in the triple Jump, he jumped 14.46m to qualify at No.16.

Rounding out the Oredigger men's team is Drake Schlachter in the high jump. Cade cleared 2.02m to qualify in the 26th spot.

Events get underway on Thursday, February 29th in Brookings, South Dakota, and run through Saturday, March 2nd.

Top eight finishers in each event are awarded All-American honors.
