High School: Layton, a 6-foot-2 setter from Eagle, Idaho, was second team all-conference and honorable mention all-state for Eagle High School as a senior. Layton joined the 1000-club her senior year with a total of 1019 assists, averaging 7.1 assists per set. Layton worked up over 180 digs and 77 kills in her time at Eagle High. She was also a four-time scholar athlete award winner and honor student.

2023-2024: Played in 30 matches or a total of 111 sets. She averaged 6.82 assists per set with 757 assists over the season. Layton contributed 51 individual points to the Orediggers. She was also voted Frontier Conference Setter of the Week three times and Frontier Conference Freshman of the Year.

Personal: Rhys, the daughter of Boyd and Catherine, is pursuing a degree in Business & Information Technology.
