BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The inaugural Chicagoland Jazz Workshop was such a success last year that it's back again this Saturday. Presented by the Buffalo Grove High School Band Department, the daylong workshop "brings together area high schools, renowned artists and inspiring clinicians to provide an educational and listening experience for students, music educators and audience members alike," according to Township High School District 214.

Jazz ensembles representing eight suburban schools are scheduled to perform throughout the day, with the music set to run from 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The festivities conclude at 6 p.m. with a performance by featured artist Chris Madsen Quartet. The Chicago-based saxophonist and composer, earned degrees in jazz studies from DePaul University, the Juilliard School and the University of Illinois. He has performed and recorded with Paul Simon, Bobby Short and Wynton Marsalis, among others.
