Paczki Day 2021: Where To Find Paczki In Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Fat Tuesday comes but once a year, and with it the promise of those deep-fried Polish confections that many find as hard to resist as they can be to pronounce: paczki (pownch-key). The beloved donut-like treats will be available in and around Buffalo Grove on Paczki Day 2021, which falls on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Some bakeries require paczki pre-orders before Fat Tuesday and others will have a limited amount of paczki on Feb. 16. Here's a roundup of where you can buy paczki in the area.

Deerfields Bakery

813 Waukegan Road, Deerfield and 201 N Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove

The 21 flavors of paczki at Deerfields include apple, banana cream, birthday cake, Nutella, salted caramel and fresh strawberry. Mardi Gras cookies and king cake are also available. Store hours are 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Oak Mill Bakery

2314 E Rand Road, Arlington Heights

Oak Mill Bakery is a family-owned specialty bakery "committed to serving Chicagoland with the freshest and finest European style baked goods since 1986." Pre-ordering for paczki is only available on the bakery's website and inventory will be limited. The deadline for pre-orders for Fat Tuesday is Feb. 13. The store will have extended hours from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. on Polish Paczki Day (Feb. 11) and 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Fat Tuesday (Feb. 16). Other nearby locations include: 2490 S Wolf Road, Des Plaines and 8012 N Milwaukee Ave., Niles.

Scratchboard Kitchen

5 W Campbell St., Arlington Heights

Scratchboard Kitchen is a breakfast and lunch restaurant in downtown Arlington Heights "delivering scratch-made food and drinks using the highest-quality locally sourced ingredients." The restaurant will be open special hours on Mardi Gras to serve King Cake donuts, paczkis and coffee. A dozen King Cake donuts, topped with purple, green and gold sprinkles can be pre-ordered for $30. A dozen paczkis filled with house-made raspberry hibiscus jam are also available for $40.

Central Continental Bakery

101 South Main Street, Mount Prospect

The fourth generation bakery has been proudly serving Mount Prospect since 1979. The annual Paczki Fest runs from Thursday, Feb. 11 through Thursday, Feb. 18. All orders must be placed by 2 p.m. for next day pick-up and must be pre-paid. The bakery said it will be offering new flavors this year to "make your mouth melt." Flavors include apricot, cream cheese, chocolate-iced custard, lemon, prune, raspberry and strawberry.

Peterson's Tasty Delight Bakery

1720 West Algonquin Road, Hoffman Estates

This small family-owned and operated business has been dedicated to the art of pastry since 1998. Pre-order forms available. Orders of paczki before Feb. 16 can be placed with 24 hours notice and a minimum of six paczki per flavor. There will also be a small selection available in store daily until Feb. 16. Flavors include key lime, lemon, fresh strawberry and Bavarian cream, chocolate pudding and cannoli. Hours are 6 a.m.-3 p.m Tuesday-Friday, 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday.

Jarosch Bakery

35 S Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village

Since 1959, the family-owned business has been pleasing customers with their delicious creations. Through Feb. 18, paczki and King's cakes will be available in the store. Online ordering can be done until 2 p.m. Feb. 13. Phone ordering is available through noon, Feb. 15, at 847-437-1234. Flavors include apple, cheese, custard with chocolate, pineapple, raspberry and strawberry. Hours are 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.

Stan's Donuts

Choose from cherry, chocolate, vanilla and cannoli paczki flavors that can be pre-ordered, picked up in-store or delivered nationwide. Available at all 12 Chicagoland locations.

Sweet Ali's Gluten Free Bakery

Celebrate Mardi Gras with Sweet Ali’s paczki. Offered in four delicious flavors (custard, chocolate, raspberry and apple). The pre-order deadline is Feb. 12 for Feb. 15 and Feb. 16. The bakery strongly encourages pre-ordering. Walk-ins will have four-pack options only. The bakery will be open Monday and Tuesday.
