Du Page River Flood Warning Across Will County

The Shorewood Police Department issued this bulletin.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Shorewood Police Department has advised area residents and motorists to be especially careful as the Du Page River remains under a flood warning until 1 p.m. Saturday. The flooding of the Du Page River also affects Plainfield and Bolingbrook.

The Shorewood flood warning focuses on the Du Page River from Route 59 downstream to the confluence with the Des Plaines River.

As of 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, the Du Page River around Shorewood was at 8.4 feet deep. Flood stage is 6.5 feet, the police said.

At 8 feet, numerous sections of Rolf Road and Lily Cache Road west of the Louis Joliet Mall are inundated with water, police said. Lower portions of Electric Park in Plainfield are also flooded.

The west Interstate 55 frontage road is also threatened with flood waters between Black Road and Jefferson Street, police said.
