From Patch reporter Tim Moran: A tornado touched down in Will County near Manhattan Tuesday evening. Multiple news and eyewitness reports indicate it hit the ground in Wilton Center around 6:55 p.m. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for central Will County that has since expired.

Reports are that the tornado was headed in a northeast direction, possibly headed toward the Frankfort-Mokena area around 7:15 p.m. Damage in that area was not nearly as severe as in Manhattan.

Power was still out for several residents who live along Cedar Road. ComEd reported at the time that about 1,300 were out of power in the area.
