Snowing In Joliet: City, Area Police Issue These Reminders

Joliet reminds residents not to park their vehicles along their streets because city snowplows need to get through.

JOLIET, IL — With more than 2 inches of snow expected to land in Joliet on Thursday afternoon and evening, city officials are reminding people to follow these rules amid the snowstorm.

First, the city imposes parking restrictions during a snow event to ensure that city snowplows have enough room to plow the streets and roads.

Joliet also reminds people that snow plowing is done with the following priorities:

The first priorities are: Major arterials, hospital routes, hills and the bridges.

The second priorities are: Subdivision main entrances and collector streets.

The third priority becomes all remaining subdivision streets.

The fourth priority is cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets .

Joliet reminds people that the city's public works division does not plow any alleys.

On Thursday, Patch reported that up to 5 inches of snow is possible for the Chicago area as another winter weather advisory is in effect. According to the National Weather Service, the advisory extends from 11 a.m. Thursday until noon Friday for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Will, Kendall, Grundy and Cook counties.

Meanwhile, Joliet area police agencies were reminding motorists to be smart while on the roads.
