Winter Weather Advisory: Heavy Snow, High Winds Saturday

Heavy snow and gusts of up to 30 mph are to be expected, the National Weather Service says.

JOLIET, IL — Heavy snow and high winds are expected Saturday, as the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory. We could see gusts up to 30 mph, and the weather service said we may get up to three inches of snow.

The snow could start as early as 3 a.m. Saturday. Freezing rain may be in the mix, too.

Snow likely before 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Breezy, with an east wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

A chance of rain and snow before 7pm, then a chance of snow between 7pm and 8pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 24. East northeast wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Sunny, with a high near 46. East wind 10 to 15 mph.
