Shrewsbury Offers Summer Youth Programs: Monday Manual

SHREWSBURY, MA — Welcome to the Independence Day edition of Monday Manual, where we highlight important events coming up during the week in Patch communities between Wayland and Worcester.

Here's what to know for the week of July 4:

Shrewsbury

The nonprofit LUK will hold an information session on Wednesday for summer programs for young people struggling with or at risk of substance use disorder. At the sessions, parents and kids can learn about outdoor programs available this summer through LUK aimed at allowing youth to "experience themselves and others in new contexts such that they are able to appreciate aspects of nature, adventure, and interdependence that strengthens the foundation of relationships."

Worcester

Renowned jazz musician Wynton Marsalis will perform Friday at the Hanover Theatre with his band. He'll be accompanied by his septet of world-class musicians. Find tickets at Music Worcester.

Wayland

The Wayland Free Public Library will hold a large bubble making event on Thursday. Kids over age 4 can participate in the event outside the library, which includes giant bubbles and kits for making bubble wands.

Marlborough

The city's summer concert series at Union Common continues Thursday evening with Southbound Train, a seven-piece country band. Marlborough's Tackle Box Brewing will be serving beer.

Milford

Monday is the day. Milford's July 4 parade returns in full for the first time since 2019. The parade begins at 10 a.m. near Veterans Memorial Drive and will travel west along Main Street. Find details here.

It'll be a good week to chip away at the Westborough hiking challenge. What's that? It's a celebration of the Westborough Community Land Trust.

Sudbury

Should Sudbury have a special Town Meeting this fall? Residents have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to tell the Sudbury Select Board about what — if anything — should be on the warrant.
