Phillies Excitement Bubbles At South Jersey Aquarium: See Photos

A mini Phillies helmet and baseball bat delighted critters at Adventure Aquarium ahead of Game 1 of the World Series.

CAMDEN, NJ — There are some big Philadelphia Phillies fans at Adventure Aquarium in Camden.

On Friday, some of the aquarium's resident animals put on mini Phillies helmets and even got to try swinging for the fences like Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper.

It's safe to say excitement is bubbling all across Philadelphia, southern New Jersey, and anywhere Phillies fanatics gather.

The Phillies are in Houston for Game 1 and Game 2 of the World Series against the Astros, then return to Citizens Bank Park for Games 3 and 4.

"Among the most excited was Gonzo, the prehensile tail porcupine, who tried on a mini Phillies helmet for size," the aquarium said. "African penguin Ray also joined the Phillies bandwagon by trying his beak at swinging a baseball bat."

Video shared by the aquarium shows Ray the penguin nibbling at the mini helmet and playing with the bat.

The aquarium says any fans looking for something to do before first pitch can come visit Gonzo, Ray, and the other critters at Camden's Wiggins Waterfront Park, where Adventure Aquarium is located.

Adventure Aquarium celebrated its 30th birthday this year, having opened to the public on Leap Day 1992. It was formerly called the Thomas H. Kean New Jersey State Aquarium.

The aquarium also shared photos of an armadillo, a green tree frog, a "Pacman" frog, and a mud turtle — all sporting their mini Phillies helmets in unique ways. Adventure Aquarium has more than 15,000 animals including sharks, hippos, penguins, octopus, stingrays, and more.
