Plowing is underway in town and residents are reminded to remove all cars from the roads. Downtown residents without driveways may park in Lot 4 behind Baron's. All cars must be removed from Lot 4 no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesday or they will be ticketed.

In addition, the following locations are subject to alternate side of the street parking after three inches of snow have fallen, and vehicles need to park on the side of the street with even house numbers (except for Ross Place).

  • 400 & 500 block of Downer Street
  • 400 block of First Street
  • Livingston Street
  • Cacciola Place
  • Cowperthwaite Place between Elm and Clark Streets
  • 300 & 400 block of Lenox Avenue
  • 200 block of St. Paul Street
  • Entire length of Ross Place (park on the side with odd numbers only)

The Westfield Police Department will issue tickets for related street parking violations.

Town Hall

Town Hall will operate with a delayed opening, currently anticipated for 12 p.m., and subject to change based on road conditions.

Recycling

In order to keep the roads clear for plowing, Grand Sanitation will not collect curbside recycling today. Recycling will be delayed by one day for each zone scheduled for this week (Zone 2 on Wednesday, Zone 3 on Thursday, Zone 4 on Friday, and Zone 5 on Saturday).

Residents are reminded not to place recyclables curbside until plowing is complete.

The Conservation Center is closed to allow for Public Works staff to focus on snow removal.

Updates, including plowing alerts and public safety information, will be posted on the Town’s website (www.westfieldnj.gov) and social media channels, as well as through Nixle.

Schools

All Westfield Public Schools and district offices are closed on Tuesday, due to the storm.

All afterschool activities are canceled. The Board of Education meeting also is canceled, with the announcement of a rescheduled date to come.

"Please stay safe and warm!" said the district.
