NFL Bans New Rochelle's Ray Rice after New Video Emerges of Domestic Assault

Rice was in the midst of serving a two-game suspension when the new video was posted by TMZ.

The National Football League has suspended Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice indefinitely, and the team released him Monday, following the emergence of new video of Rice knocking out his then fiancee, according to NFL.com.

Rice was in the midst of serving a two-game suspension in connection with the February assault when the new video was posted by TMZ. The initial suspension was heavily criticized in the media, which led to the league strengthening it punishments for incidents of domestic violence. Rice and his fiancee subsequently got married.

According to ESPN, the Ravens terminated Rice’s contract, which owed him a total of $10 million over the next three seasons. The New Rochelle native will not receive any of that money, writes ESPN. His future in the NFL also is now in question, according to NFL.com.
