MLB star breaks his hand punching a wall following disastrous performance... and is now on the 60-DAY injured list

Chicago Cubs pitcher Colten Brewer has been placed on the team's 60-day injured list after punching a wall and breaking his hand following a nightmare performance.

Brewer, who is in his first season with the Cubs, allowed three runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while pitching just 2/3 of an inning after coming out of the bullpen in a 7-0 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.

According to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney, the right-hander took his frustration out on the dugout wall at Wrigley Field after his poor showing against the Angels.

He is understood to have fractured his left hand after hitting out in anger, which has earned him a place on the Cubs' 60-day injured list.

Brewer entered the game in relief of starter Kyle Hendricks in the third inning with the Cubs down 2-0 at the time.

The 31-year-old veteran has made 16 relief appearances and has no decisions to go with a 5.66 ERA, a save and a blown save, nine walks and 22 strikeouts.

In a corresponding move, Chicago called up right-hander Hunter Bigge from the Iowa Cubs. In 11 games, Bigge, 26, is 1-0 with a 0.77 ERA and six saves.

The Cubs selected Bigge with a 12th-round pick in 2019 from Harvard. He has yet to make his major league debut.

Brewer has spent the last six years in the major leagues after making his debut with the San Diego Padres in 2018.

Since leaving San Diego after one season, he has since spent time with the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Japanese baseball team Hanshin Tigers before his move to Chicago.

Last season with the Yankees the Dallas-born reliever allowed four runs in eight 1/3 frames after pitching three times.
