You got to have a little stronger scent on the field,

that long lasting one, you know?

So that whenever you're running the bases, you know,

you running to those bases after I hit a home run,

they smell me coming around the bases.

So that's the key.

They gotta smell you when you're running those bases

so they can remember you.

[laid-back music]

Hey GQ, it's Manny Machado,

and these are my essentials.

This is a special bag right here.

My wife gave it to me for my birthday last year.

It's a Hermes bag and it's,

obviously has the baseball stitching on it.

So it makes it pretty cool.

And it's a special edition.

So you don't see many of these out there.

It's a must on the plane, a must.

I use it for my computer, cologne, watch,

sometimes my toiletry bag.

My wife gives me a goodie bag every road trip.

So this goes in there and it's big enough

to carry all that stuff, so all the good stuff.

Speaking of that, here's my computer.

My game computer right here.

It's my setup that goes in my bag that you guys saw before.

I got my gaming laptop MSI, pretty fast, pretty good.

These are the headsets and the controller.

I got to stay with the controller.

A lot of guys are using mouse and keyboard now

but I keep it old school,

I gotta have that feel in my hands.

like if I'm a kid again, 10 years old,

which I do get beat by some 10-year old kids out there too

as well, but I try to do my best.

This is a lifesaver on the road trips

when you're by yourself.

People don't understand how hard it is

moving to different cities every couple of days,

every other day, you know, it's tough.

And you put this in your hand

and you just, brings back a lot of memories.

Mario Kart and Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros

and you're just a kid again.

And it just brings you back to life.

And I wish I could give you my gamer time

but people who are close to me know what they are.

My next one is what I got on my wrist right here.

[exotic music]

Patek Philippe Celestial, moon face, rose gold.

This was my dream watch.

I said, this was going to be my gift to myself

when I signed a big contract and I worked hard for it.

I finally reached it and I got a contract.

And this is first thing I got.

I had my eye on this for about six or seven years.

I just couldn't afford it, too expensive.

So I told myself one day.

You always gotta have goals for yourself.

That's the biggest thing to keep you going in life.

Just so nice, has the moon face on it,

it's rose gold which is one of my favorite colors

with the leather band, keeps it classy.

It goes with me everywhere.

You know, weddings, anniversaries.

It's a special watch.

So come down on special days.

Here's my baby right here.

This is my Acqua Di Parma, Yuzu.

Every year I pick one cologne

that I wear on the field to perform.

I've been doing it for years now.

I always get compliments on it.

And you know, we have all these guys going out there

and they're buying it.

One year I had Prada, another year I had Chanel Blue,

you gotta smell good to play good.

Of course you gotta have two different ones.

You got to change it up, so this is my home one,

which is a nice going out one,

I go with the smell,

and this is just a little more on the softer side.

Little [indistinct], smells good.

My wife loves it.

And this is for night time.

You got to have a little stronger scent on the field,

that long lasting one, you know?

So whenever you're running the basis, you know,

you running to the bases after I hit a home run,

they smell me coming around the bases.

That's the key.

They gotta smell you when you running those bases,

so they can remember you.

My J's is a must, must have.

This is the swag.

These are the J Balvins.

This is what brings it all together right here.

The colors, it's colorful and it brings happiness.

They got the happy faces all on there.

You know, J Balvin did a great collaboration here

with Jordan and you know, on top of that,

I like his music so.

Still haven't even worn them yet.

They're just so fresh and so clean

I'll probably break these out for opening day.

Once I got on the Jordan brand,

brought back a lot of memories when I was a kid.

So now being able to afford some

and it's always good to have in your collection.

If I really like the shoe, I'll probably order two of them

just so you can have one and just take care of it

and they stay like this, crispy clean on the bottom.

As you can see, you can probably lick them in the bottom.

Those are always, it's always clean.

And then one that you can wear and always be swagged out.

I'll probably wear these for opening day

and keep the other ones for a rainy day.

[peaceful music]

Family, they're not here right now

but I think that that's the most important one.

You know, I have a big family.

I grew up with a lot of cousins.

My grandma had about 12 kids.

I always joke around with her and tell her,

You didn't watch TV back in the day?

You know, like, what's going on?

It's just a big family, so I'm a big family person.

They love me.

My wife has a small family.

We all come together as one.

They're what keeps me going

and what keeps me alive in this world.

So it's all about the family.

Got my son and my stepson there.

That's what I call Coby and Giggy.

Giggy is my wife's dog and her family,

and when I came in we had Coby

and they've been brothers ever since.

And they can't live without each other.

We can't live without them.

No matter what it is, you go O for 4, 4 for 4,

it doesn't matter, you can have the worst day in the world.

And as soon as you come home, you know,

they're out there barking at you

and they're excited to see you.

And it's the best feeling in the world

and everything else goes away.

And when you see them, you know, with that joy.

My children, not puppies, I would not say that.

Those are my children.

This right here is one of my most important essentials.

Number 6, chicken nuggets, large fries with Powerade.

Everyone who knows Manny Machado knows

that I can not live without my Manny McNuggets.

Whenever I'm having a bad day, I always tell myself

let's go have some McDonald's.

And I order my chicken nuggets at McDonald's

at my drive thru.

The next day, for some reason,

I get a couple of hits or a couple home runs,

I'm just saying, just throwing it out there.

This is a 10 piece comp.

Whenever I'm really hungry, I might go for the 20 piece.

But I usually just go with the 10, and I get satisfied.

Usually order two fries, you know

because you gotta eat one in the car

and then by the time you get home

you have the other one for the nuggets.

You know, it's a balance.

Sometimes I get the McFlurry, that's if I'm really,

really splurging, but that's not every day.

That's maybe once a month,

once every couple of months, the best.

My next item is my Callaway golf clubs.

Got to San Diego and Callaway's from San Diego.

And one of the head marketing guys there, Jeff,

who's hooked me up for the last couple of years

and Rob, sent me over this wedge, you know,

and it had San Diego Padre's logo on it,

had my number on it, number 13.

And then once I got to San Diego,

finally I got to meet Jeff and Rob

and they hooked me up with the whole set.

I got the driver, I got my wedges,

I got my irons, my putter.

They've been taking care of me for years now

and it definitely hasn't helped in my golf game,

but it's getting there.

It's getting better and I'm okay, I can hang.

I'm not great, but just makes you work to be better.

Whenever I pick up a golf club,

I want to be the best person out there.

So I just keep working to try to be the best.

That's the competitive stuff that comes out of me

and golf definitely does that.

Hydration - Essentia Water is number one for me.

As an athlete, as a baseball player,

being in the sun all day,

burning a lot out on the field,

I think that the key to nutrition and to the body

is staying hydrated.

This is some smart water, the taste of Fiji.

And once I tasted Essentia, I think the pH that it has in it

and the electrolytes, gives like a nice little taste to it.

And it just makes you want to drink water.

You know, it kind of sounds weird

'cause you would say it's just water, I guess, right?

But it's not.

I probably drink about one or two gallons a day of this.

So you can actually just drink it warm,

room temperature, I love it room temperature for me.

I could drink a lot more.

You know, this is always a must for me,

day in day out.

My coffee, who does not love coffee?

I think this is the number one thing I do.

Helps me wake up in the morning, especially spring training

waking up at six in the morning, every day.

Get up, pour your coffee in, take a drive down to Peoria.

The caffeine gets me going so once I get to the ballpark

I'm able to go out there and start performing.

So I'll probably drink a whole cup of this, 16 ounces,

which is not good 'cause then I gotta drink more water

because it dehydrates you a little bit.

So there's a balance.

And when I'm in Miami, I like Panther coffee

which is, it's probably the best coffee I've ever had.

But any black coffee, honestly, as long as it's hot,

[indistinct]

I like to put a little bit of cream in it, no sugar.

I like to put collagen in it in the morning as well

to help with the digestive system and you know

start my day off like that.

So black with collagen and some cream,

just a little bit, is the way to go.

That's it.

Those are my essentials.

Appreciate it.

Goodbye.
