As a former member of a SWAT team, one crucial lesson I've learned is the immense value of heeding the insights of our most seasoned members. Our ethos was unequivocal: the wisdom of experience should never be underestimated, regardless of our initial opinions or the age of those offering it. In our world, experience was the ultimate currency. These seasoned veterans didn’t accumulate their knowledge by chance. Their expertise was honed through a blend of skill and fortune – attributes I've found to be just as essential in the business world. In both SWAT operations and business, success is often determined by two key factors: the ability to perform well under pressure, and the luck of being in the right place at the right time. Recognizing this has increased my appreciation for experienced decision-making, not just in tactical scenarios but also in making wise strategic business choices. This is what we call "getting stuff done" or "GSD" 😉 . GSD is more than just a catchy acronym; it represents a highly esteemed quality. It embodies a commitment to action, efficiency, and results, qualities that are respected and admired by professionals in any field. The GSD mindset is impartial, and solely focused on action and results. It is about accomplishing the task with efficiency, in a professional manner, regardless of who you are.
Well said Chris. Team members with a GSD mindset are the best!
