An employee at Go Green Solutions was charged with aggravated assault after striking a coworker in the head with a metal pipe on July 30. According to the incident report, Cpl. Charlie Bryson met with the victim, Dean O’Neal, 53, sitting in a chair in the back parking lot of the company. He was bleeding with a cut to his forehead, a cut on his nose, a swelling of his right eye and scrapes on both hands. O’Neal told Bryson he didn’t know what happened and that his last memory was driving a golf cart.
Monroe County EMS arrived, and after he was placed in an ambulance, O’Neal said he was starting to remember what had happened. He said another employee, Terrence Stephens, 60, of 3377 Mogul Road, Macon had hit him in the head with a pipe he called a “cheater bar.” He said he remembered standing with Stephens loading a truck, and Stephens started hitting him in the head with the bar. He said that was all he could remember.
Employees said that after looking at the video of the incident, it appeared Stephens had struck O’Neal with a pipe. They said after striking O’Neal, Stephens left the scene in his truck but left his cell phone. Bryson took the cell phone for safekeeping. O’Neal refused to be taken to the hospital. An arrest warrant was issued for aggravated assault for Terrence Stephens.
The next day, July 31, Go Green Solutions called the sheriff’s office and said they found the pipe Stephens used against O’Neal. They also provided a copy of the video of the altercation on a thumb drive.
Also, on the same day, O’Neal’s wife called the sheriff’s office and said her husband went to the hospital, where they found he had a fractured sinus cavity, fractured ribs and a lacerated spleen.
Go Green owner Greg Jarrell told the Reporter that the most important thing is that O’Neal, their teammate, is going to make a full recovery. He said they are unsure of what caused the altercation.
