What to Know

Critics Consensus

With assured style that's at times reminiscent of the best '90s nail-biting thrillers, Fair Play juxtaposes premarital disharmony with greed and gender politics in the cutthroat finance world.

Claudia Puig FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) Initially it works, and then it devolves into something so extreme that it becomes borderline silly. Oct 21, 2023 Full Review Brent Simon AV Club A film with a distinctive personality and an eagerness to dig around in the real-world sandbox and ask questions for which it knows there is no single, pat set of answers. Fair Play never stops making moves, which makes even its missteps feel refreshing. Rated: B Oct 15, 2023 Full Review Robert Levin Newsday It's one of the more incisive and powerfully made movies about relationship dynamics in a good long while. Rated: 4/4 Oct 13, 2023 Full Review Gautam Sunder The Hindu Reminiscent of the hit television drama Industry, director Chloe Domont’s debut feature on two ambitious financial analysts caught in a doomed relationship is slick, sexy and all kinds of enjoyable. Roy J Now this satisfied my fix for an original thriller. Loved every minute of it. Thrilling and entertaining. Ladies, confirm your man isn't a closeted incel before you say yes. Phoebe Dynevor is an actress to look out for. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/04/23 Full Review Ghederick Eshmont Despite periodically succumbing to heavy handed, contrived gender politics, Chloe Domont’s control over the story is unrelenting & brilliant. A hallmark film for the rise of the working professional Millennial. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Carly M Started off strong but then devolved into something way too over the top as to not be believable. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Dragan P It's unclear what exactly brought this couple together to begin with. The lady is beautiful and smart but the guy is neither nor is he witty. He doesn't make her laugh and he never makes a smart impressive move. In none of their conversations do they ever reminisce about the past or anything that would indicate a reason for a connection. You end up cheering for the lady to leave him but she takes too long and because of the lack of connection or challenge from him it's unclear why she sticks around for so long. Despite this major flaw, the movie's mood and flow is entertaining and only because of this do I give it 3 stars. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Jackie B This movie has all intentions of being a thriller, but falls short at completing the story line. I have a lack of good news after watching this movie and would not recommend the waste of time. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/08/24 Full Review Jay Saurav C Extremely predictable movie. No twists or turns, the chemistry between the main couple wasn’t good either. Phoebe looks pretty though Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
