Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald The characters' disconnection from each other also tends to disconnect them from the viewer, making the film's transatlantic crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 a long and languorous affair. Rated: 3/5 Feb 24, 2021 Full Review Jocelyn Noveck Associated Press A clever and absorbing film that feels, alas, a little unfinished and a touch too improvisational. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 12, 2021 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker "Let Them All Talk" offers enough surprises of tone, pleasures of mood, and piquantly composed images to carry the film through with a sort of visual music, compensating for the dramatic thinness without overcoming it. Dec 18, 2020 Full Review Sarah Cortinaz InSession Film Let Them All Talk feels like you’re sitting down to watch a documentary. His continued eye for detail brings such a layer of humanity to the characters. For better or worse, their lives are open for all to see. Rated: B+ Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Dave Giannini InSession Film Let Them All Talk ties all this greatness together in a perfect bow. My favorite movie of 2020 without a doubt... Jeff M A movie featuring three female leads over the age of 70 deserves a plaque and a free dinner at Bob Evans just for existing! The fact that said movie happens to be intelligent, literate, funny, contemplative and thought-provoking makes the cause for celebration that much more warranted. This is admittedly not a movie for everyone, and some viewers will be bored to such an extent the channel will probably be turning within the half hour. But I love dialogue and discussion - I don't need an explosion every ten minutes. And watching characters like these sit around talking about their lives - and often saying more by what is left unsaid - is catnip for me. The fact that the dialogue was improvised by the actors makes the whole thing even more astounding. Performances across the board are superlative - and I wouldn't be surprised to see Bergen end up with a Supporting Actress Oscar nomination. A subplot involving a budding relationship between Streep's nephew and her agent detracts a bit from the terrific threesome, but this is a minor quibble. This is also the first movie I've ever seen that makes me remotely consider taking a cruise! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/24 Full Review Alec B More low key than it should be but we're here for these actors and they will certainly see you through to the end. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/09/24 Full Review Mishu R I didn't think you could make anything but a great movie when you cast Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen and Dianne Wiest in the same movie. But the famous director proved me wrong. I kept thinking this is an unscripted movie because of the horrible dialogues. But then I learned there was a script writer. And the directing was as good as my nephews high school movie club project. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/01/23 Full Review Andy T What a disaster. When you realize that it's nearly over and it still hasn't gone anywhere, it'll make you wonder why you did this to yourself. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/30/23 Full Review Kristin N Oh my god, I stuck with it waiting for it to suddenly explode into something. Anything with this cast. Sadly I'll never get that time back. I should have gone to bed it would have been time better spent. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/25/23 Full Review Jenna M Phenomenal cast. I was mesmerized by the acting, and the plot moved slowly but satisfying. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
