Really outstanding restaurant. We walked in without a reservation and got lucky with a table. They gave us booth seating, which was great for our toddler moving around a ton. The wait staff was so patient with him.... being a toddler in a nice restaurant. Never once did I feel like he was bothering them, even though I know he was! We felt so welcome.
We got the tasting menu and it included three courses each. Loved every bite of what we ate! The entrees blew us away with how tender the meats were. The dessert was simply amazing. We also got an entree for our toddler, which the manager came along and comped for us, after coming to meet us, check on us, and learn that we were visiting. He also offered both of us complimentary mocktails! The service (I wish I remembered his name!) was too kind and gracious. He was the highlight of our experience there.
If you are looking for something unique to have in Vancouver, in a beautiful and classy setting, I recommend Chambar! You will not be disappointed.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 22, 2024
We made reservations for this restaurant for Brunch and were quickly seated when we arrived.
This restaurant had really nice aesthetics, but I expected a little more from the food. I think the presentation was nice but the food was just ok. It didn't really stand out to me. I don't know how to explain it but it just seemed to lack something in its food and I can't pinpoint what it is...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2024
This is some of the best food and service you'll have anywhere. 5 star service and taste at 3 star prices. Everything we ordered was bold and unapologetic in flavor. Every small bite can have so many different textures and pockets of contrast. I particularly enjoyed the lamb tangine.

A beautiful awesome day amazing people of the world! This morning we're at it again for another brunch episode during our "eff around and find out" adventures in different cities around the world.
Today we find ourselves at Chambar in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada. Why here?? Because we're hungry and we wanna give it this place a go at it.
First up is the Shakshuka which was amazing, I specially loved the lentils with the fried halloumi. Put that with the stew on the pita chips and stick it all in your mouth. Amazing!
Then there's the La Saucisse, which literally means "The Sausage" en frances. It's got cornbread, eggs, and watercress. But the star of the show is that chimichurri. I could eat that with a spoon. It's that good.
Anyway, if you like discovering new places to smash. Hit that follow on my profile. Share this review with a smash mode buddy and thank you so much for reading my review. I hope this helps with your decision making experience. Enjoy your awesome yelptastic day!

Beautiful place! You walk in and they have a closet for you to hang your coats. We were able to get a last minute reservation and were taken downstairs to our table. My food wasn't what I expected. My lentils were delicious but the rest of it was so so. A little salty, the cast iron pan gave my food a weird after taste and my waffle was hard and not warm. My bf enjoyed his sandwich and i should've ordered the same thing. My macchiato was perfect and I drank it so quick I didn't take a picture. There is a parking garage and plenty of street parking nearby. Our server was always around when we needed him and he was fabulous.

Phenomenal cuisine and craft cocktails- everything we ate and drank was delicious! What sets Chambar apart is the customer service and knowledge of the staff.
They were extremely kind and helped to ensure our experience was as positive as it could be, while also offering very practical recommendations to visit in the area. Highly recommend!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 31, 2023Updated review
We came to Chambar as a party of four on Saturday night. We had an 8:45 reservation-it was not too busy but still lively. Their kitchens close at 10:00 PM, so as long as you know what you want to order for an appetizer or dinner going in, you are good!
My cocktail of choice this evening was the Quiet Coyote. Despite the mild sounding name, this cocktail packs a punch! I love the combination of mezcal, rum, lime and ginger here. This was a fizzy and light surprise!
Our table split two appetizers:
Bastilla de Lapin- this was savory rabbit wrapped in phyllo. The sauce it came in was smoky without being overpowering. The rabbit had the consistency of pulled pork. It was wonderful!
Our go to appetizer is the foie de canard "Villa Lorraine"-we love the French toast like bread that comes with the side of iced cranberry. This plus the balsamic drizzled fois gras is excellent.
For my entree, I enjoyed the Tajine d'Aziz a l'Agneau. I love this dish so much. I know I have reviewed it before. But I love it-the lamb falls right off the bone, and the figs bring together the cream, harissa, couscous, and the bok choy.
Chambar has an excellent rotation of old favorites and new dishes. They are a pleasure to return to time and time again. They are consistently excellent.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 20, 2022Previous reviewWe went to Chambar on a Sunday night. We had a reservation for four people (and would recommend making a reservation), and were seated right on time. We enjoyed everything-the ambiance, the service and of course the food. Easily a five star experience. Here is what I enjoyed:
Rolling Tides (gin drink)-an umami ocean of flavor. This is drinking the sea in a good way-this was light and full. I only needed one cocktail but cannot recommend this unique take on gin highly enough! Who knew that gin, sesame and nori would go so well together?
Foie de Canard "Villa Lorraine"-this foie gras is perfect with the french toast. This was a great start to a great feast. The food gras is not too salty on its own-the balsamic and the salt are to the side, so you can choose your flavor intensity.
Tajine d'Aziz a'lAgneu- this is an old favorite dish of mine. The lamb was falling off the bone, and the broth alone is very good. This came with the golden couscous on the side. The raisins and the figs bring this dish a sweetness that doesn't overshadow the savory flavors. This dish keeps well for the next day, too.
Pavlova: this is the best dessert I have ever had in a restauraunt. The pistachios and the cherries went so perfectly with the meringue. The balsamic tied all these flavors together and it was hard to share with others. While I normally run savory and spicy, this is the only dessert I can say I truly crave.
We even got some lemon shortbreads and raspberry dusted meringues to enjoy while we checked out. It was a lovely night. We can't wait to return.Mar 31, 2020Previous reviewI am probably preaching to the choir here, but oh my goodness. I am from the States, and whenever my group comes to Canada we ALWAYS stop here.
We have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Exceptional service, beautiful ambiance. If you don't believe me you will just have to try for yourself :) - Sep 12, 2023
A classy brunch spot in Gastown with unique brunch menu options! They have a large interior which allows for a bigger group. Pro tip: if you go there after 1pm on a weekend, you will most likely get a table even though you don't have a reservation. If you go earlier on a weekend without a reservation, be prepared for a long wait!
Luckily, we didn't have to wait either and were seated right away. For drinks, we got their DIY bottle of mimosa which was good for 6 people, the bubbly definitely gave us a kick.
The last time I came I had ordered their shakshuka which I loved, it came with fried halloumi and the creamy tomato shakshuka. However, this time I decided to mix it up and get another thing from their menu so I got their Rôti de Boeuf. It was a bit too "meaty" for me and I found it very bland. I told the staff that I didn't like it as much and if I could order something else. The staff were super nice about it, they replaced my food with the shakshuka and did not charge for it!
5/5 for customer service as well as their shakshuka :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Hello S.San Francisco, CA0465Jul 6, 2024
Both hostess are unprofessional.
I dined in 7/5 @ 6pm this evening.
I asked to be seated in the patio and in the shade and received nothing but roadblocks by both girls.
The blonde one refused to walk me to the patio unless I stepped in the doorway. I mentioned, I did not want to put my mask on so I wanted to wait outside until she was ready.
Once the brown hair girl walked me to my table, I requested for a table in the shade. She did not offer one, though there was one available at the other end.
Restaurants are a hospitality business and this business makes it impossible to enjoy.
Our medium rare steak came out rare. We asked to have it cooked a 2nd time which I think did not happen. The steak was still rare.
I do not intend to be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 16, 2023
Brunch was very good here. Get here at 9. It's not busy by that point. The cornbread with creme fraiche was surprisingly good and crispy. Everyone enjoyed their food and the ambience. By 10 it was quite loud and busy and it changed a little.
Nice treat here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
