Nor-Cal Refrigeration

I am very happy with the great service Frank provided! I wanted to be sure to hire a local company because I think it's important to support small businesses. I have a 6 year old under cabinet VT45 stainless steel wine cooler that went on the fritz. (Upon returning from a vacation I noticed the wine was warm and the LCD temperature reading was 72 for both red and white sections). Frank asked questions during my first phone call to determine if it was even worth repairing. It was was running normally but not cooling. After our discussion I made an appointment. He came out and determined it was a faulty electric controller. I ordered the part from Vinotemp for about $50. Frank came back after I got the part and he installed it. The wine cooler works perfectly now. I was happy because the wine cooler is about $1500 to replace. When I mentioned this he said Sub Zero wine fridges are even a lot more. He noticed we had a Sub zero fridge and then he mentioned how important it was to remove the grill and clean the inside of the coil system. He spent time explaining how to do this and he had some other helpful tips as well. He said if you don't do this maintenance regularly it will eventually break an otherwise amazing work horse of a fridge. I had always vacuumed just the outer grill only. As it turns out, after opening it up the coils were indeed covered in at least 1/3" deep of dust/debris! By doing this maintenance I've saved repairing a Sub zero prematurely and I'm sure my utilities will go down considerably as well.

Furthermore, Frank didn't even collect any money on his first visit. He wrote up what the total bill would be and left me a copy. He said I could pay him after he comes back to install the part.

Nor-Cal Refrigeration is like the old time companies where service mattered and people really tried to help their customers get the best out of their products. Frank's prices are also very fair and he will give you an up front estimate. I can't recommend his company enough.

We had them come look at our kitchen vent hood and they said we needed to get it replaced. They said the payment from the visitó would go into the cost of the installation once we picked a new vent. Well we've called them three times and they have keep saying they'll call back in ten minutes and they never called back. We ended up going with another company because they were so difficult to deal with.

I'm writing to compliment Nor-Cal Refrigeration for their exceptional level of service and professionalism. From my first interaction with Frank to the completion of a repair to our refrigerator the entire process was effortless. We were kept updated along the way and everything went as planned/promised or better!

Made an appointment to come by today between 3 and 5. It's after 6. No show no call. If I did that at my job I'd be looking for work. Don't waste your time.

Frank and Emilio both serviced our GE fridge at two separate times in 2020. Both times, the fridge had stopped working (but due to different issues -- once with coil cleaning and once with a fried wire), and both individuals were kind and explained to me what was wrong, what they were going to do to fix the problem, etc. as they diagnosed and worked on the fridge. It seemed to me that the price was also very reasonable (less than $250 both times) and I was glad for their professionalism. Thanks!

last month I called someone to fix my refrigerator. He came when expected, and the refrigerator worked again for a reasonable price. I paid him in cash, which he requested, and he didn't give me a receipt. Two weeks later the appliance no longer worked, i couldn't remember the name of his company, and a friend referred me to Nor-Cal. I will never call anyone else. Frank came on time, diagnosed the problem quickly, told us what to do, explained how it happened, how he would treat it, and I was delighted. My very brilliant engineer brother, who can fix anything, happened to be over, and was also very impressed. Like reviewer Jamie C. ,SIX STARS.

Great customer service and they usually can fix the problem the next day. We've been using this company for years.
They fix refrigerators and stoves, etc.

Frank and Emilio replaced my ice maker in my very-old Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator and took extra care to clean the parts under the refrigerator to help extend its useful life. They also replaced the door seal on our old front-load LG clothes washer. This small family-owned business is professional, skilled, and reliable, and they are good communicators. I highly recommend them.

We had a refrigerator door shelf that broke in a couple of places. I spent a while looking for the replacement part on the Internet and Amazon using the fridge model number to no avail. I was referred to Nor-Cal Refrigeration as a place that might be able to help us out. It was the end of the day when I called and left a message for Emilio. He promptly replied and let me know that they don't usually sell parts, but he would look up if he could get the part for us. He called back the next day to let me know that he had contacted the manufacturer, but due to the age of the fridge, they no longer make the product. He was very pleasant and I appreciate how he took the time to make the call and research things for us at no cost. If we ever have a need for help with our fridge, we will not hesitate to contact Nor-Cal.

Frank answered my call and asked for my name and number and said they'd call me back to schedule a repair by end of day. They didn't call back so I called them again the next day and got their voicemail where the mailbox was too full to leave a message. I don't know what happened to these guys, maybe I recommended them to too many people and they can't keep up? Never heard from them and that was weeks ago. Anyway, it's a shame to have this negative update but luckily there are plenty of other appliance repair teams in SF.

I woke up to my fridge being off and the lights inside not working. When I called Nor-Cal, they suggested that I check the breaker first to make sure the fridge was actually getting power. They also suggested that check the electrical connection for the fridge. All this to try and save me money on a service call. Really appreciate how they're looking out for the customer.
