Viet Mama Cafe

Viet Mama Cafe has slowly grown on me and becoming my go to place for my Pho cravings.

They serve a variety of Vietnamese dishes such as dry vermicelli, lemongrass chicken rice, spring rolls and have a drinks menu of smoothies and milk tea etc. Their beef tendon pho (A5) is my favorite Pho and I like their broth a lot. Another favorite dish that I like when dining in house is their grilled pork chop with eggs on rice (R10).

I think their foods taste much better when dining in but this place definitely serves many many takeout orders...as it's quite convenient to order online from them. Their app has alerts to tell you when order is ready for pickup and even offers discount codes.

This is a casual diner that opens late till 3am and I appreciate that they maintain friendly service even in the wee hours.

The ambiance was quaint, and the service was alright with the number of people at the time.
I ordered the lemongrass chicken. It was good but kind of bland for being lemongrass chicken.

3 deboned chicken legs, some dry ish rice rice, needed to pour some fish sauce on it l, and some veggies on the side.

Like that they are a late night meal

Had an amazing lunch with family here yesterday. Small modern Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria Drive. Not your average pho place. Menu and all the favorites and more. We tried various rare beef pho, chicken pho, meat rice roll, bbq meat bun vermicelli and chicken Banh Mi. The portions are large and food is fresh and delicious. Comfy tables and half booths great for small and large groups. Lots of options for drinks as well. Will definitely come back again !

Easily missed amongst a slew of other Vietnamese restaurants. We dined in on a Friday evening that was initially quiet but saw as the steady flow of customers arrived after.

We ordered Beef Stew with rice noodles, Grilled Lemongrass Chicken with Springroll and vermicilli and Beef Carpaccio. The noodle dishes were incredibly flavourful and generous. The rice noodles were on the softer end but the beef brisket was tender and fatty. The chicken was juicy and paired well with the crisp lettuce and noodles.

It's not in our neighbourhood but would recommend and return.

Go to place for lunch, dinner and late night dinner. Food portions are large and prices are good. Service is hit and miss, but with young people worker, it's a very casual environment. Highly recommended whether you're tight on budget, want large portions, want good tasting food, or want a late night place to hang out and eat.
There's so much meat in the pho and in the banhmi.

After 830 pm, this cafe was one of the only places on the block still open. Very casual, only a few tables were taken. Takeout order arrived very quickly.

Spring rolls were fresh and hot, hand-rolled and fried to the perfect crunchy golden. I'm still not sure if the filling was mostly pork, chicken, or mushrooms with some vegetables and a clear slightly sweet dipping sauce.

The chef's choice pho was huge and perfect - lots of rice noodles packed separately with various beef cuts, hot broth plus sauces, and an herb pack.

Delicious food with amazing service! The ladies were very attentive, always on their foot to check any new comers, or any one needs to order. We order rice dumplings, salad rolls, spring rolls and meat rice dish... And they were marvelous! The texture was soft and not rubbery. Cook to perfection with flavourful taste. At the end of our meal, after we paid the bill, Mama (the owner) came and talked to us, telling the rice dumplings dishes are all handmade and cook to order! Wow! Super good and I'll definitely go back!

Stumbled upon this place to try their shrimp roll as well as the deep friend roll. Both were delicious and really well done. The wrapping on the shrimp roll was wonderfully paper thin and freshly made. Price point was great. You know the place is yummy if they have a quite a bit of customers doing take out. Parking is at the side street, but it's free.

Ordered take out and the noodles were too soft. I've ordered take out pho before, but perhaps with Viet Mama, since it's a Northern Vietnamese joint and they use wider/flatter noodles it's better to eat in the restaurant. The soup had good flavor though.

I also ordered the chicken with sticky rice and it could use a bit more salt.

I still give 3/5 stars because it's not bad. I added soy sauce to my chicken and rice - it was much better after.

The fish sauce isn't super sweet. Which is good!
